DNTK and Post of the month suggestion...

I was thinking after I read statics post of the month thread that it might be an idea if you put someone in charge of selecting the post of the month, somebody who has the time to do it that is.

This could be implemented in two ways that I can think of, either posters suggest to that person what should be post of the month and that person (like a moderator of sorts) gets the final say, now this will start all sorts of bitching so I think suggestion number two is better and that is:

The person put in charge using the suggestions of other posters starts up a poll and its on the basis of this poll that the post of the month is decided, now unfortunately this is open to abuse, but the other method is open to extreme bias, so choose the lesser of two evils.

How does this fit into the "Dont Need To Know" newsletter I hear you all ask. Well dntk could then be auto generated from the result of the post of the month (and other things, can't think of what else though) and this would make dntk a regular monthly affair with a few comments from dev or cloud being optional.

Just a thought.

Some minor 'tweaking' of the system could add a button to each thread (in thread view) allowing each user on the last week of the month to pick their own 'post of the month'. Again, this is open to abuse, but a person (eg, smak;) or baz_, he suggested it) could, at the start of the next month be able to view the results, and select himself from this (using the results as 'weightings' I guess) the winner.

It's only post of the month for god's sake, and since only that person (and admins) be allowed to see the results of the voting, then it shouldn't be a problem.

And what an opinion it is too.

Even though you might not get moaning about unfair judging, you still might get moans about "gay" or "lame" posts of the month, but as you said it's only a post of the month so fück the moaners. I'm paraphrasing of course, but I'm sure you'll agree thats what you meant;) ...
