Messing with the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards

    It's that time again to sabotage an English vote. Sports personality of the year 2001 on BBC is now ready to be voted on. The suggestion for this year as was heard on Irish radio today is to vote for Keith Wood. It's pretty difficult to ban the 'World Rugby Player of the Year' from their poll. As a certain Unionist once said "Vote early...and vote often!"

    I could be wrong but I think the Sport Personality
    of the Year is split into two sections one for the Brits and one for
    "Overseas" if I'm right then Woody would of course be in the latter which is not even mentioned on the web page you link to.

    which lists the various catagories.

    I suppose they just put the votes they recieve into seperate boxes and add.

    So vote Woody for overseas personality.!

    BTW I should admit to thinking the whole notion is daft and
    the programme itself is awful but hey we all like a poll...:rolleyes:

    You're absolutely right, Mike.

    This is mad. We've just managed to get the British Media to refer politely, if a little wordily, to the British and Irish Lions and now some idiot thinks it's a good idea to redefine Keith Wood as British all for the sake of flogging the Ronnie O'Brien joke which is so old in Internet years that it's got hairs on it.

    Why arn't the B+I Lions just called officialy "The Lions"
    and be done with it.

    Off topic for a mo, is'nt it time the anthem for
    Irish rugby was sorted out - ie adopt Irelands' Call and drop
    the more sensitive "National Anthem" of the Republic.
