I recall seeing sky news report that Bin Laden owned up to it (as did Sharkley).

However when I've gone to check I can't find any reference to it. CNN reports that he "hints" at it but BCC report doesn't say anything of the sort and mentions that the English version appears to be different to the Urdu version (plus Bin Laden speaks fluent English, so there is no need to translate).

Also I mentioned eariler that this report was a new one and they never played the old one. It's not, it is the same video edited.

This had me wondering last night as well.

CNN had, in their lataest developments sectoin on the Afghan situation, that there was a video circulating in the ME in which bin Laden "came close to admitting responsibility".

Why is this a latest development if there was a video around last weekend where he definitely admitted responsibility.

Call me a cynic, but the major media seem to have a habit of re-reporting stuff as new news, or of reporting information contradictory to something from a few weeks previous without ever acknowledging that previous reports were incorrect.

Yes, I know that this is almost a perfect description of propaganda, but it irks me that the public is treated as though they have the IQ of a gnat.

The problem is that they cannot come out and say ' Osama bin ladin is the guy responsible for the september 11 atrocities' because if he comes to trial (unlikely) he can claim misrepresentation by the media and get away scott free. So all they can say is 'suspect' 'chief suspect' etc

All bin ladin said is 'We are terrorists, we cant let anyone forget that' or something along those lines.

Anyone see the 2dtv sketch last night, it had the northern alliance freeing kabul

Soldier 2 ' I quite like my beard'

Soldier 1 'SHAVE IT OFF' and fires off a few ak rounds

Osama bin Laden has admitted he and his al-Qaida network were responsible for the terrorist assault on the United States, according to a report being published today in the Sunday Telegraph. The paper claims it has a video in which bin Laden admits responsibility and calls the sites that were hit "legitimate targets."

Bin Laden describes the killing of thousands of people as "justified ... because they were not ordinary citizens but worked for the American system." He adds that it is "every Muslim's duty to kill Jews."

The international terrorist also said that killing Americans was "legal from a religious point of view" and that history would judge that it had been a worthy deed.

i doubt that anything reported in The Sunday Telegraph is accurate!

I've seen what your talking about hobbes. I dont think they ever said "he did it" it was more like "video evidence of bin laden all but admitting he was responsible" but it was merly bin laden saying that the attacks were justified

This is probably a topic that is best dealt with by someone like 80project, but if someone admits to commiting a crime, then it is not an issue if the media say "person X claims responsibility"... it is only an issue if they say "person X did it".
