I'm going to have to check for the link but the QUE books (can't remember the publisher) have most of thier books now online. It allows you to check out up to 5 books at a time.

However if your looking for paper versions your going to pay a lot of cash normally, unless you try somewhere online or your local library.

    http://www.mcp.com/que/

Is the site, but I can't seem to find the link to the online library. I don't know if they still do it.

    Also try...
    http://www.informit.com/

Actually I just looked at that link, and it looks like it's the one. You select one of the QUE books and you get full access to it.

Anyone recommend some (not too pricey though, I'm on a tight budget),

    Looking for books that teach:

    Java /script

    3D Max (R3 preferrably)

and/or a quickie guide to VB or C++

yeah, I know, basic stuff, but I'm sick of knowing bits and pieces.. I wanna be a real Nerd!!!! tongue.gif

Is it Java or Javascript you want (remember they're two completely different things...)?

That bookshop across from the 66 bus stop has some cheap O'Rielly computer books downstairs (they're about a £10 each if any are left). I have a few books at home - dunno if any of them will be any good you though.

Computer books are incredible expensive - £40+. You best hope is that site or trying to get them second hand.

Thanks Lads. That ftp and the informit site are excellent.

Draco: (I may be crap but I'm not *that* bad) The section of chapters - downstairs - gets in ex stock computer books. They sell them off pretty cheap too (I got all the Norton PC guides a while ago for £20 smile.gif ). Only thing is, they're pretty well out of date, and it's a case of pot luck as to which one's they have in when you visit. No decent Programming or 'Net books at the mo' but new stock should be in next week.

me off to try that devguru link smile.gif
