The Sunday Times reports that Philip Nolan, chief executive of the FTSE-100 listed company Lattice Group, has been asked by Tony O'Reilly to run Eircom following Valentia's takeover of the former State owned telecom. Born in Northern Ireland, Nolan is currently the chief executive at the Lattice Group, a company which controls natural gas distribution systems around the UK. The newspaper says that Nolan would stand to make "millions" if he can turn around Eircom, which is currently led by chief executive Alfie Kane.

I'll resist the temptation to pour scorn on Mr Kane. Again.
