Having my old Sky anolague box, in my Garage and knowing that in addition to my one, I can obtain a further 2 from other family members, can I do the following....
Put my old Sky dish (19*e) back up and split the cable into 3 old sky boxes (anolague) which will be in the attic, and then input these into my tv dist. system . I was thinking of having a dedicated channel on my tv for Fox news (Rumoured to be off Sky Digital shortly) and 2 of the german ones, (Vox, RTL ).
Any of you technical minded people out there able to help?.

Yes. It would be possible but ya would need to change the LNB on yer dish to a Quad or Quattro LNB which can take up to 4 boxes. There aren't many analog channels left in english at 19E though. Channel5 will be gone at end of December. I didn't know that FoxNews was on analogue, I thought it was a digital-only transmission. Maybe someone can clarify this. There are a few good enough channels there I suppose on analogue like MTV Germany, Viva, CNN, Eurosport.

    Fox in Analogue @ 11436 V.
Theres alot of free TV on Astra but analogue is being really squeezed as each channel is a Transponder as opposed to 6 in digital (28.2 can do 9 per Transponder!!!), so its literally taking up money making space.

    Thanks for your replies.
Each answer just brings more questions, and I hope that you will share your knowledge again:
    1. Would it be cheaper to just buy a new dish with the "Quad" as opposed to upgrading my old dish?
    2. Is possible also to have the dish pointing at 13 degrees for hotbird, as BBC World and other channels broadcast from there.
    3. Any info on where I could buy these here in Tipperary.

    Feedback appreciated.............Thanks

The world service is available on 19.2 in Analogue @ 10729 V, personally i would go for a new digital system.

Its an investment but digital is a platform for the next 10 years or more even.

I was under the impression that some old ( and used to be very expensive ) analogue boxes could feed more than one TV but the dish still needs an upgrade.

i really think analogue is a waste of your money.
    :)

Just checked lyngsat listings and BBC world television is NOT on astra at 19 degrees. Its BBC world service radio.
As for "A waste of Money" I wanted to just use the 3 analogue decoders i have just lying in the garage and I dont mind spending a small outlay to get them working. However your suggestion (Chernobyl) regarding digital decoders, i have been checking the satellite magazines and these run into hundreds of pounds for a cheap FTA decoder, this does not include the dish and installation.

Try this: you don't need a quad LNB, just a twin will do with some splitters bought from a satellite shop. Set up one receiver for vertical, the other for horizontal from each leg of the LNB and place the splitters in-line near to the recievers. Receiver no 1 could be set up vertical for CNN, with Fox News on Receiver no.2 running off the splitter. Receiver 3 will be on horizontal set up for Viva-2 with Receiver 4 (if you have one) taking MTV Germany off the splitter. There's lots of combinations and it's just like running your own cable-system! I have CNN, FoxNews, CNBC, Viva-2 and Channel 5 piped all round the house combined with the regular NTL channels!
