War in Afghanistan is a farce!

Today Osama Bin Laden has publicly denied involvement in the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11 2001.

Slobodan Milosevic and Timothy McVeigh were both given due process, the right of any human being to a fair trial in a court of law, not a lynching.

If the man had admitted to bombing the towers maybe things would be different, but right now the USA the supposed home of freedom and impartial equality is carpet bombing Afghanistan a country on the verge of cataclysmic human suffering, refugees and starvation heaped upon an unjust war.

George Bush said to the Taliban there would be "no negotiation", when the Taliban had offered to hand over Osama Bin Laden for trial to an impartial country if the USA would consent to produce evidence and not bomb Afghanistan in exchange for his handover. But no apparently by the logic of the American military establishment this was tantamount to negotiation with terrorists and instead the leader of the vaunted "home of freedom" began carpet bombing a largely defenseless Afghanistan.

Now that Osama Bin Laden is protesting his innocence of the crimes he is accused of what are we, when I say we I mean the countries that have supported military action against Afghanistan for quote "harbouring terrorists", going to do?
Lynch Osama Bin Laden without so much as a trial and usurp the government of Afghanistan, probably dragging Pakistan to the brink of civil war if not pushing it right into it ? Or are we going to have the courage to practice what we preach and stop this war and allow Bin Laden to defend his protestations of innocence in a court of law?

The Taliban have offered to hand him over and the man says he is innocent so why are we allowing innocent people to be murdered in the name of the WTC bombings?

I submit that this war is a distraction for American people from the dire mess the Republicans have made of the American economy in the past eleven months, with 400,000 extra people being reported as out of work in the US, this war is not a matter of opposing a threat real or implied by Arabs or Islam but is instead an excorcise in distraction at the price of the murder of poor and mutilation of the ethics the "West" has had the audacity to lecture others in the "less developed world" or the Islamic (Islam translated means Peace) on ad nausea.

    Oh pur-leeze!

The 400,000 rise in unemployment is largely down to the
slowdown in growth caused, in part by the terrorist attacks of Sept 11.

Mow Mike, he's obviously not an economist; just let him embarrass himself.

I'd agree with some of your points (the whole not practising our preaching) But your reason to it I dont think is really what its all about...I mean my opinion of the whole thing is that America despite trying its best not to do somethign stupid got pushed into a position. Much like Kosovo. they had their bluff called and now unless they want to lose face to everyone else must stand up against terorism etc. Its like a scapegoat. Someone hit them hard and instead of saying we dont know, they give a suspect which quickly changes from suspect to offender to screwed royally. Its lik that conspiracy with the moon landings. America said they'll do it. Theres evidence they didnt, but they still faked it. (all rumour not saying they did or not.) Personnally Afgan war is not the end of the world, its more like a second cold war... This time Extreamists V Liberal moderates. And frankly my dear I dont give a damn. If Bin Ladin by some miracle beynd Jesus proves he is innocent then America is screwed. If he doesnt. Then alot of pain and suffering for a bit. It goes in the history books and the winners write the ending. Like most of it so far... I know its been proven that arabs did the attack. But I dont know why but I'd actually love if it turned out to be an american extreamist group...I must sadistic or something...I just wanna see Bushes face when somebody tells him it was the extream vegetarian society or something.

One of, if not the, largest oil reserves is in that region. Uzbekistan I think. The yanks want to tap it and put a pipe across Afghanastan, which the taliban won't let them do. Me thinks there's an alternative reason for the 'war' right there. Bush is backed by the oil industry, who are very powerful lobbyists.

Typedef - Bin Laden denied involvement in the attack on the USS Cole, and on those 2 embassies and was linked to them with proof. Given his track history, it means f*ck all whether or not he denies responsibility in terms of credibility. Several nations not on the attacking force have publicly stated that they have seen the evidence that the US constantly harps on about and that it is rather unquestionable.

Given also, the awful amount of "coincidences" surrounding Bin Laden, I wouldn't be too quick to start preaching (if you'll excuse my use of that word here) about the tyranny of the US/UK here.

Considering that the Taliban have openly stated that they could never hand him over to a non Islamic government, I would like to know where you heard that they (the Taliban) had offered to hand him over.

This has already been discussed, also it's presented in a manner calculated to aggravate Americans or anyone with who can think like a rational human.

    Closed.
