Sky sports soccer pundits are Sh*t!

The only good one is Andy Gray. He's actually the best pundit in the world but anyway.

You get people like Gary Pallister with his big thick head - Richy Keys asks him a question:

Keys - "How well did liverpool play today?"
Pallister - "oh yeh very well.....they passed the ball well and played good and passed the ball well"

    ...later on

Keys - "So do you think LIverpool are equipped to win the title this season?"
Pallister - "oh without a shadow of a doubt. today they passed the ball well and played good and passed the ball well"

In fact all footballers are like this. its a shame really

Well I can tollerate Sky but my gripe is w/ ITV's Premiership Band of Cronies...McCoist & Venables.

They never have anything bad to say about anything. Its all pats on the back for the lads and never a cross word, even for the most heinous of performances or tackles (wish I had on tape their reaction to LeSaux's challenge vs. leeds)

They are truly cráp. Thats why the combination of Dunphy, Giles and O'Herhily are top notch. They dont hold back and say what needs to be said. If Sky wanted to parachute in a new facade for their footie coverage they couldnt go wrong w/ said 3, IMO:)

Sky are alright though- they could do w/ less recent ex-pro's who are unwilling to criticise players they have played with or against and perhaps are still friendly with. Thats why someone like Rodney Marsh or Charlie Nicholas, both sufficiently detached from the game always highlight some of the more crontraversial issues, whereas Gary Pallister is loathed to criticise Fergie or MU where necessary.

yeh so basically what makes a good soccer pundit is an old prick who is pissed off with everything and anything...?

and too damn true about the RTÉ guys. they truly are ingenious and a true joy to watch! (and laugh at) :D

I suppose so! They currently are the only ones who talk any sense. The rest of them are just starting out and not wanting to be too contraversial or step on the toseies of their m8's.

I wonder will Eamon still be employed by RTE post his run in w/ the law. I've heard of ppl being sacked for less in the states!

The frustration with ITVs The Premiership is that
"El Tel" knows his stuff but is'nt remotely encoraged
to show his insight, as this might scare the average
ITV footie fan which is even thicker than the average
    non-ITV footie fan.

Oh yes, developing a lucid critque would eat into the advertising space as well and we can't have that!

Eamon Dunphy and John Giles at times over-egg the pudding
    but better that than nothing.
