I was wondering if there is anyway to jam the signal to my phone just enough to recieve the message

the customer you are dialing may be out of coverage...

it is a bank holiday weekend and i don't want to be tracked down by work. i don't want the phone to be off but i need to hear that message not my messagebox

Firstly turn off the divert to your message minder then set you phone to divert all calls, not unanswered
