Consoles: which will rule?

Ok folks, we've battered this one around often enough, and I've just installed Opera so you're damn well going to vote if I've installed this, sucky, sucky, sucky browser (shut up Bard)

So in your opinion, which of the three big boys is going to be the Rolls Royce of consoles and who's going to be the next Atari Jaguar?

Oh....honestly....the PC will still own their collective asses. It's not open for debate cos it's a well known fact.

ps2 is already well cemented in. I doubt it'll be going anywhere. Its got my vote.
this upcoming console tiff is bewteen the xbox and gamecube.

Wrong question. The DOMINANT console next year won't be the same as the BEST console next year.

The PS2 will dominate in terms of installed base and software sales.

However, I daresay that the Game Boy Advance and GameCube will be top of the heap in terms of quality of product.... So I've voted GameCube, because it'll be the one "dominating" my actual game playing time

if you'd take the trouble to look back at a previous thread posted by yomamma you'd c links posted to video footage of the gamecube. they are what swayed me.

oh and if some1 can tell me how to upload vids to a website id b more then happy to share

They've also produced some of my all-time favorite games.

I'd be close to voting Playstation2, but having already owned one - I have to say... good console... great controllers... dissapointing games.

While we're on the subject - AMP!!!
Start up another poll on people's favorite control pads.
The DreamCast controller is annoying, N64 controller is even worse, playstation duel shock = sex0r!
The MegaDrive controller was too big and clumsy.... especially the 6-button ones.
SNES controller was just about 'getting there'.
Don't even talk to me about the 'ow-my-hands-are-bleeding' NES controller.
A good poll IMHO.

good one Santa, I'll use that for next weeks poll. I'll chuck in the Atari 2600/7800 "joy"stick which came before the idea "ergonomic" appeared but could however, withstand a direct nuclear blast.

Ah the old NES controller, my fingers are all twisted horribly out of shape now and I think it has to be at least partially down to so many hours spent playing away on the NES pad, aweful, aweful controller.

N64 Controller is the best ever!

I 'hated' the Megadrive controller. 15 minutes of Mortal Kombat and the skin was peeling of my thumb, but the nes controller takes the trophy for 'worst controller ever'. I put myself bleeding with one once.

The joysticks on PS controllers suck copious amounts of donkey. Nowhere near as accurate as the N64 or even DC sticks. Also, the Dual-shock pads are too small to fit in the hand properly; they had it bang-on with the original analogue (no force feedback) pads.

TBH, I'm not even going to look into the X-Box because its Microsoft... call me unfair, but thats the truth.

Microsoft dont deserve my money, and I dont deserve such dodgy-software.

...My votes on GameCube... looks great + its $100 cheaper than the compitition.

The old NES was a good ole machine. We had some gr8 days.

The original MG was a classic. Better than MGS??? ((maybe not..))

The GameCube controller is the best I've ever used, followed closely by the N64 pad, the DC pad, the PS2 Dual Shock, the Saturn analogue pad and... er... none of the others get a look in. The Xbox controller is horrible, as were the original PS and Saturn pads.

The original PS pad was the horrible little one without the sticks...

And being pedantic here, no, they're not the same. The Dual Shock 2 has analogue buttons and very slightly modified design, as well as a significantly improved rumble system.

Getting back 2 the consoles, I dont thing the X-box will win for 2 reasons.

1. If you want pc games youll buy a pc. Not a console.

2. Miscosoft are h8ted by many people.

The PS2 is out, has sold millions of units, will sell many more this Xmas, and can double as a DVD player. Also there are better games available now, and more on the way.

The gamecube will have quaility games, and Nintendo never let you down.

But I think the sheer no's of PS2 units will make it the 'best box'.
Nintendo will be a niche product.
Xbox will be the next 'sega saturn' (both had good games but never amounted to much).

The sheer brute size of the X-box will put many of it,its made me think twice anyway.
And the minute little GC will be top in portability,for people that travel alot they could fit it and a slap of games into a tiny bag for short trips maybe?
