I am researching electricity disconnections and the behaviour of power companies....anyone got experiences to share? Also how are things shaping up in Ireland re cost of power and value of government benefits

I am preparing a film documentary in Tasmania (small island near New Zealand) about plucky lady living without electricity in urban unit.

Oh yeah I also just like to char.

Well, the power company here (ESB) is owned by the state. as far as I know they're unable to make a profit and are still quite expensive. Short power outages can be common, depending on where in the country you live. I've heard about the national grid being in such a bad state in the cork region that its happening all the time. Here in the south east (Carlow/Kilkenny area) the power supply is rarely ever disrupted (though it did go for half an hour or so a couple of weeks ago :))

That's about all I know of the subject.

    <<edit>>

Oh hang on, by electricity disconnections, did you mean the power company actually disconnecting someone's electricity supply as a result of late/non-payment of bills or something? If so, I know nothing about it :D

what you mean is a small island state off the south coast of australia. if you research involves asking poeple ona board for anicdotes and not even knowing where you subject is, it will make for very poor showing.

Apparently, they had had their quota of muppets that year, and exported him over here, with a 6 gig hard drive full of Donkey pr0n hidden in his rectum.

There are lies, damned lies, and what WWM/Amp says.

Thanks for comments on outages which were of interest. Yes I am interested in disconnection of people from the grid for various reasons either choice or company action.

PS my reference to New Zealand was an anti-federalist, anti-internationalist, pro-regionalist anarchistic kind of joke. Love thy neighbourhood - and lighten up a bit.
