The eldar own all other 40k armys if used properly and use the united they stand as i call it tactic.Eldar so obviously will win.

Just played two battles over the weekend against space wolves and dark angels one on one no allies no tricks.Both imperial forces are they not?And ive massacered a few other marines in my time aswell.What is youre problem with the eldar serioiusly they kick much ass a lot.I reckon the foolish mon keigh are jealous of the eldars brialliant weaponary.I killed logan grimnar with a wraithlord and a very good darkangels grand master with a striking scorpion exarch.Its all jealousy

and of course wraithlords with theyre T8 and W4 totally own.

the only army that comes close is Tyranids, the mutable genus thing can be used to make seriously beardy armies.

remember quanity over quality! (except for eldar who are just so beardy! but they are so poncy i wouldnt even dream of playing them EVER)

A basic warrior that has better stats to a space marine,gauss weaponery and gets back up on a roll of a 4+ when killed just rocks.

Hmmm, I'd disagree Venom. I took Necrons to the GT, and tbh they weren't hugely impressive. The basic warrior is solid but suffers from the lack of upgrades available to the squad. Plus you'd be amazed how many 3's you can roll in a row.......

The best all round army, is probally marines, then eldar (with their "Its Not broken list!", Don't get me started) went with marines to the tournement with them and lost one game (13-7) to a dark eldar player who had 26 dark lances (captain Brie himself).
Overall one major victory (17-3){speed Freaks}, one draw, (10-10){Space pupies}, one minor loss(7-13){Captain Brie with his dark Eldar dark lance army }, one minor victory (13-7) {sisters of Battle} and total exterination of a unfortunate 'nid player (20-0)

I am pretty sure of the scores. so out of 100/ marines got 67.
Overall winner at tournement was a marine player- about 40% playing were marines, force of numbers...

Guard are good but takes a lot to play them and enjoy the game...

Best Army I have seen without being cheesy was a Ork army done to the theme ot the German Army of WWII. Brillant army and with the best boss to lead it.

On that note .... the Imperial Guard "Armeggedon Steel Legions" models work fanastically for the 101st when painted in the greens, with brown for the gloves, straps, boots, etc. I'll get some pictures tonight and post them

Space marines are by far the best army for 40k. Not because of their stats, but because there the most popular army [GW made sure of it]. Is there anyone here who has never seen some annoying little kid in a GW store boasting about how his marines are "so brilliant". Not very pleasant is it. Although I am a marine player, I think Orks and 'Nids have the best Codex books, and Tau have some really good models also.

Worst army for me would have to be Black Templars. Not bad in a stats way but bad in the whole way to uber stats compaired to other armys. Seems to be bought out just to give Johhny no tatics a better chance than he deserves at winning.

Ok, perhaps I should have been a little more clear. In all my years as a 40k player, I have seen the Space Marines get more coverage and more new models than any other army. Lets look at the current edition shall we. There is the Space Marine Codex, along with an additional codex for Space Wolves, Dark Angels, and Blood Angels. White Dwarf is running the Chapter Approved series for the other first founding legions. They have even covered some of the other foundings, [Black Templars and Flesh Tearers]. Now, lets see what they have done for the other armies in this time. Nope, can't find much at all by comparison. How often have we heard people beg for the sisters of battle codex, how many other armies have gotten a second edition of their Codex? [only Dark Eldar]. Space marines get more coverage than all the other races combined, along with new models for EVERYTHING!!! sorry to go on for so long, but its true [but totally unfair I'll admit.

Space marines will always be the main focus in 40k. Most of the mytos for the 40k universe revolves around the dying Emperor and his armies. Space marines are the elite of his armies.

If you take all the various chapters and interchangable models, it will make up a good 30% of the total 40k sales of minitures. This is a major market for GW so thats why it get so much coverage.

I haven't been around the WH community since about 2006 but definitely when I left the Space Marines were ridiculous. That chapter trait was rather mental.
