Well, hot-dog i recently conversed with dell about buying a 2nd spare cheapo type pc and they told me that AMD were rubbish and that dell never deals with them, when i said that it dosen't have to be an Intel processor..

I wonder is this for servers only, or also for PC's?

Naw that's just accessories , not computers.

I work with Dell (God forgive me!) In the engineering dept, AMD can be ordered as bulk orders for corporate customers or special cases like servers etc. but for the near future Intel will be supplying the Chips unless politcs break contracts!

Pug and Lyra pulled out, so my attendance is now in question :( (I don't play any other games....only because of time constraints). I've opened up a thread over on unreal.ie and if there's a reasonable number going (i.e. enough for me to fight all day :D) then I'll still be in, but the whole thing is overbooked anyway so I wont feel guilty about pulling out.

Would love to go though. I'm currently interwebless because I've moved house so I haven't played any UT in weeks! It's killing me. :(

If Dell cannot be bothered shipping the superior AMD processor for anything other then servers then they are barking up the wrong tree.

TBH They are not worth there salt, I would not buy a Dell if you paid me.

Meh, now that AMD have upped their prices to line up with intel's, there isn't any huge reason to go one way or the other. Each has their own areas in which they excel. I'm running AMD64 on my computer at home, but my parents have a dell running Intel's EE3.73Ghz and there's no noticeable difference on most applications. (Obviously the EE with dual core and hyper-threading should be better at multitasking, but this isn't in any way obvious in any applications I've used)

The kind of people who buy from dell don't know the difference, and in alot of cases it wouldn't be of any difference to them.

This has been discussed to bits in the past, so we'll leave it at that...

if yee have to skip midlans then you should consider interlan. that is if you are living in Dublin and are looking for a substitute.

AMD dropped their prices, not raised them!

    Nice article there wiz.

Doodee: I'm in for Midlans. Wasn't aware of interlan. You should pimp it over on unreal.ie if you're an organiser.
