FIFA 2006 Free Kicks

Just a quick question regardig Fifa 2006 on the Xbox:

What is the story with Free Kicks and Corners?!?

Fair enough, the odd time I can score from a corner kick...usually a dodgy goal :o , but never anything direct.

As for Free Kicks, I am confused! What happened to the Free Kick system under '05 with the kick placement and how much spin you wanted to put on it. With this new system, its either hit in the wall, blasted over, or a tame shot that the keeper easily saves. Whats with the little arrow and the distance thingy?

ps. Just a little side note, another thing I noticed in '05, and was hoping it would be fixed in '06, why is Holland/Netherlands not included in the game whereas the Dutch league and all the Dutch players are included?

No way, its a quality game. i hear alot of people saying good stuff about pro evo 5 but is it not a bit crap that you have teams like london red and london blue instead of arsenal and chelsea or has that finally been fixed.

ps. like the M.I pic wellj

The best way to remedy this is to buy pro evo 5. It has better and more realistic corner and free kick taking and the bonus is that you get a better game on top of it. It's win win all the way.

erm i think the more you move away from the ball when taking the free kick, the more spin you will have on it.....

    d-arke,

Its sinful that someone who enjoys the Monkey Island Series so much is playing Fifa Football over PES.

    Its an oxymoron.

Its like playing some crappy adventure game instead of Monkey Island 1.

You wouldnt do that would you?

Well that would depend if the other adventure game was by Lucas Arts or not. r.i.p Lucas Arts 2D Adventure games.

Thats the situation I'm in now, I wouldn't play any other football game instead of Fifa, they've simple been the best over the years with no competition, albeit Pro Evo 5 (which I haven't played)

You haven't played the competition, how do you know its better? :s

ya could have at least finished quoting me properly, i recognise that pro evo is providing competition.
the reason i like playing fifa is that one, they have the full licensing rights to all names, stadiums and teams etc. two, they've been the best football game producers in the last what 10-15 years.
i don't doubt that pro evo 5 isnt a good game. im sure it is, its a case of different strokes for different folk.

so can someone please just answer my original questions or are ya's just going to try blag me into playing pro evo 5 all the time.

    that makes perfect sense!
when ur taking the free kick, you can move the man taking it with the right stick, and you can move him away from the ball, the more he is away from it, the more spin is on the ball i.e CURL. also with the left stick, you choose the height and finally you press the B button to shoot, and try and get it in the blue.

oh yeah if you press the right trigger you can get a guy to tap the ball for you to hit it first time, there is more power this way.

Actually in the last 10-15 years PES has still been far better.

Just under different guises, "International Superstar Soccer" on SNES for example peed all over Fifa 95 96 etc. And since then it has always been the far superior game, just take my word for it d-arke, try PES5 out and you will NEVER go back to FIFA bull****

Is it possible for someone to make a thread about fifa without somebody else saying 'no way, Fifa is shiit. Pes kicks fifa in teh ballsack'. For fúcks sake lads, he asked a question about Fifa. Answer the question or shut the f*ck up.

We are forcing PES on you for your own good,

Thats what you people dont seem to understand. The silly thing is if you actually just tried the game out you would never play FIFA again, and would come back here thanking us for pointing you in the right direction.

I have played pes and I prefer it but I cannot stand the amount of people that fail to realise the game has any faults and almost cream their pants when they hear somebody talk about fifa as it gives them the chance to preach their gospel.

There probably is no answer, the system is probably flawed.

because you don't know and couldn't convert the OP to PES_religion, the fifa system is flawed?

    brilliant.
