Wikipedia. It's a bloody vortex. Once you're in you can't get out. I started out on marsupials, ended up on Resident Evil.

did nothing today really. Meant to go into college, go to a physoc meeting, do a whole load of study and start on my presentation.

I played emporer battle for dune most of the day however. Made some food, checked out my homebrew. Shadowboxed a bit, re-hurt my wrist. played hide and seek with my dogs and then lazed around on the computer til now

Whoops. Was that my fault? Sorry.

If it makes you feel better I procrastinate too and I'm unlikely to write my essays or my presentation on time for next week.

    Go me!:D

Weird.. you had an early night last nite tho didnt ya? I was up till three last night, got up before noon today, pumped myself with caffeine and have been studying since.

Though most of that is guilt driven from not going to college yesterday and being a lazy bastard in general.

Well half 1 or so, so i guess early enough. No Caffine today though...maybe that'll be the solution so i do something tomorrow now. I'm watching tomorrow never die's now..

..Cleaning. I've spent the past two hours cleaning up after my lazy, good-for-nothing flatmate (who also does BESS). Bah.

Soon, I will be doing laundry and going up to dundrum to buy food. What an exciting saturday I have planned..

speaking of food does anybody know a really good recipe for salad? or have any good ideas for starters, i'm cooking for all my friends in just over a week, so i need to come up with some ideas.

Feta cheese, black olive, sundried tomato and caper salad is a good one to start. Pretty self-explanatory, just add lettuce and don't bother with any dressing..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,381 ✭✭✭snorlax

yeah im a big cheese fan but i don't want to go ot with it, must find a guinea pig to test these on..

right what do you guys think of this menu:

    appetisers:

    Ham stuffed peaches
Avocado salad, with cherry tomatoes, feta, lettuce and tabasco sauce
    a cheese board with grapes

    main course-

    Basmati with Normandy Sauce

    Desert-

    fruit salad

    or banana ice cream smoothie,

or passionfruit sorbet (impossible to make though--)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,135 ✭✭✭✭John

Serve the cheese board after the desert, it's far more enjoyable then. Ham-stuffed peaches sounds interesting I must say.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,381 ✭✭✭snorlax

i found a recipe from about 20 years back in my Mom's old cook book, i haven't actually attempted any of them yet!
the stuffed peaches involves using peach halves and making a sauce kind of thing from mayo, parsley, ham, onions and some other stuff, but it seems very simple and easy to make.
should i really leave the cheese till after?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,135 ✭✭✭✭John

It's the way it's normally done, you do your starter, your main, your dessert and finally the cheese. This is making me hungry :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,945 ✭✭✭cuckoo

Snorlax - there's no chocolate on your menu. I hope this is a temporary omission, chocolate is the food of gods.

today i am procrastination by reading recipes for chocolate cakes, nigella lawson writes very good food porn.

"and this chocolate sauce is best served off the breasts of a harem of 18 year old virgins, so as to really savour the flavour"

...i could so be a chef.

but people always do something chocolatey!

maybe i could get some mars bars, melt them down, add some ice cream and milk and blend them all altogether, and maybe add some chopped nuts/ a flake to garnish it...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,945 ✭✭✭cuckoo

You could just melt the mars bars and have them as a sauce, then set out the chopped nuts, flakes, whatever and get people to make their own sundaes. Like an ice cream buffet vibe.

crash, i didn't quite mean that when i was talking about food porn. :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,381 ✭✭✭snorlax

great idea Susan, ill try doing that..i wonder how many bars i'd need

So there, I am, in Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, at about 3 o'clock in the morning, looking for one thousand brown M&Ms to fill a brandy glass, or Ozzy wouldn't go on stage that night. So, Jeff Beck pops his head 'round the door, and mentions there's a little sweets shop on the edge of town. So - we go. And - it's closed. So there's me, and Keith Moon, and David Crosby, breaking into that little sweets shop, eh. Well, instead of a guard dog, they've got this bloody great big Bengal tiger. I managed to take out the tiger with a can of mace, but the shopkeeper and his son... that's a different story altogether. I had to beat them to death with their own shoes. Nasty business, really, but sure enough I got the M&Ms, and Ozzy went on stage and did a great show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

Seriously Sarah - chocolate and a harem. i'm telling you, they'll love it.

Add a bit of cream to the Mars bars when they're melted. It stops it being too gloopy and adds a nice flavour and texture.

Today did some study, and lots of procrastination with the aid of:

    -Stargate: atlantis season 1
    -http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/295165
(i'm still giggling at that, it's a flash animation with a song called 'geeks in love', by the same ppl who did 'ultimate showdown')

The Sea Shell (go out westland row/pearse st bridge pedestrian gate, turn left, cross pearse st and go straight down lombard st east, take first left - voila!) will batter anything you bring in. Well, maybe they wouldn't batter and deep fry an Agent Smith for you, but there's always a chance...

    ...sleep.

Seriously. I had three naps in the library today.

    *jealous*

I can't nap in public. Well, i can, but i shouldn't. Drool issues. And, snoring (it's been described as 'very cute, not too loud snorks', but i still don't think it'd be welcome in the library).

I have also been indulging in the sleep thing, but at home in my bed. I wish it were possible to bank up deposits of sleep, so that i could tell myself that i'm not actually procrastinating study with that long lie in, but i'm preparing myself for the busy term ahead so i'll be able to productively go without sleep then.
