To get cheaper petrol than that you will have to travel to Waterford. The Shell garage on the New Ross Road (just past the bridge in Waterford) is selling petrol this week for 102.9!

I wonder what Tesco in Maynooth is, anyway go by recently?

(back before the major rises they were like 6 or 7 cents less than the next best.

I'm still working on it but I have developed a fuel price map using google maps, Check itout on http://www.biggreenbag.com/jontest/
please feel free to tell peopel about this and update the prices yourselves! just click on the logo to update the price! also, you can use http://www.biggreenbag.com/jontest//addstation.html to add a new petrol station.

[edit] It has over 100 stations already registered with most of them having the correct price as of the last 2 weeks.

    Have fun!

    down again. Northside (dublin).
Tesco and shell in the area is 103.9
Wonder will it ever get back down below the Euro mark... :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,366 ✭✭✭whizzbang

Its definitly heading down that way, although it would be a bit odd for petrol prices to keep going down during winter in the northern hemisphere when oil usually is in higher demand for heating.

The Cheapest stuff on my fuel map is 103.9 in Tesco and Shell on Malahide Rd

Cheapest southside is Texaco Clonkeen Rd Deansgrange at 104.9
See the prices in your area at

grand, although anyone can update the web site! Unfortunatly there is no way of getting prices automatically so it needs people like your good self to update it! just click on the station name and update the values in the box that opens on the map. I've added an update link to make it clearer!

I haven't driven around all of Tallaght yet! you can add a station using http://www.biggreenbag.com/jontest/addstation.html if you like?

The best way of doing it is to zoom in the map and turning on the hybrid view to see can you actually click on the roof of the garage, that will give us the best accuracy in the Latitude and Longitude boxes. Then just fill in the details and click "Add station"

    have fun!

Cheer Tab! I see you have added a few, here are a few guidelines to make sure all garages are done the same!

Prices are done in the format 109.9, rather than 1.09
Please put in the city code in the Dublin area code box, it helps with the localised search
All Station Names etc should start with Capitrals!

once you have hit the submit button you will see some xml.. please just go back to the front page and reload to see your changes!

    and thats about it!

I will be making it easier to add staions this evening.

    cheers for updating it!

Aye, it's hardly any wonder they're all against a Tesco filling station in Ballybofey!

    Cheers Divot! :)

I'm renaming it to "Pumps" - Public Urban Map of Petrol Stations. I'm looking to get a domain for it soon once I have added in other regions of Ireland! I'm also tidying up an "Add station" feature to allow the public to add more stations!

Why do you hate this person so much? This is the second forum I've seen you berating him in - Are you stalking him?

Is there something in the boards rules banning similar user names?

    Ambrose

I've been in touch with the guys from mapeire but we are not doing anything together yet. The sites are similar with map full screen on left and data on right, but theirs is more generic covering pints as well as fuel. Mine is just fuel and is really designed just for that. I started mine in early October an saw theres a few weeks later (That was a "Damn it!" moment I can tell ye), Since then I've been putting more work into mine to get it up and running sooner.

I plan to do a redesign of my site when I've got the technical stuff all working (nearly there! :), damn Internet Explorer specific Javascript) so it doesn't look so similar to mapeire as those guys were publicising their site before I did mine so I reckon they own the look.

Both excellent sites. Pity that both sites can't be combined to be even better. I know how hard it must be to keep the prices up-to-date.

    Keep up the good work!

Saw it in waterford today - Texaco garage top of the hill when you go over the bridge. 98.6c

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,087 ✭✭✭Duiske

Yeah, Waterford seems to be the cheapest around. Lot of stations below 1.00 p/litre for past week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,366 ✭✭✭whizzbang

Is the petrol brought in through Rosslaire or something? is that why its cheaper? less to travel?

Any chance on adding these bargain stations to the petrol price map!?
    http://www.biggreenbag.com/jontest/addstation.html

I tried to figure out where they were by their printerd address but my ignorance on Waterford's layout scuppered me!

    Cheers!
