I'm running some ram test using memtest and I get some faults... they go like this....

TEST - LRAND(Applying random numbers to the ram...)
    Address - 0bb4e81c(and others....)
    Expected - 2c1d50a6
    Actual - 2c1d51a6

It is always this third last bit that is one above what its apparently supposed to be??

    Any know why??
    Thanks

RAM memory is supposed take values of 1 or 0 in each cell.
One or more bits may be stuck in the "1" position.

if overclocking turn the speed down.
    Otherwise 3 options
    - if it's parity memory and another M/B supports ECC you might get away with it
    - if the memory error is above 128MB (say) and you can tell the m/b that it's a128MB you might get away with it.
    - accept that it is dead.

on older RAM some memory faults seem to "heal" over time and test ok when not used for a while. but the fault will return when the ram is used again for a while.

Well I've RMA'ed it already so I'm really just being curious....
Though someone once told me about underclocking the RAm to see if that works but its probably not worth the effort since dabs are gonna take it back...
