3 LNB's one dish

Does anyone know if you could successfully attach 3 LNB's to a 1m dish (middle LNB focused on 19.2) and pick up sky digital and hotbird with the other 2.

Has anyone done this and how did it impact signal quality/strength. Or is a motorised dish the only solution.

(BTW I'm in Dublin and already have a sky digital dish and cannot put another dish up on my house.)

there should be no noticible reduction in quality but if there is you can get a booster.

A booster? I think not. You can use a 1m but from experience if the wind moves the lnb arm it can adversely affect reception with blocking etc. If you have a sheltered location though it may be ok.

    Hope this helps Tony

    so you wanna get
    28.2 [centre]19.2
    13 on a 1m dish.

i never tried this but i doubt that you will get sky digital on this setup.
its worth a try, but i have tried and failed to get digital signal's from 19.2 and 28.2 on a the same 1.2M dish.

good luck, but i advise get the help of a LNb meter.

i have heard of this working with a 1m dish. lining up the lnb's is meant to be a real pain though

It is possible but without a meter tough going, also bear in mind that the dish acts like a mirror so the lnb for 28 degrees is on the left as you look AT the dish or tne right as you look skywards

Strangely enough the bigger the dish the harder it is to get dual illumination over a wide spread as the biiger dish has a much tighter focus range.

so lets look at this logically
i dont think its possible to rent a LNb meter so you have 2 options for getting a meter.

    (1) buy it..anywhere from £50-£300
(2)get out a dish expert who will have to modify the dish LNb arms, so i guess he will want £200 for his days work.

or you could just get a mini dish and digi LNb for £50 @ your local Sat dish provider, get two and your still cheaper than the meter options.

    chernoble,
That advice is a rock of sense, I had fun with a 1.5 m dish here for a couple of years-but the maintainence on it was very expensive + the risk that some one could go off with actuator or lnb/half the dish for that matter.
