I bought an original NTSC version of "Nobody's Fool" because I could not get a PAL one. I am now looking for someone/someway to make a PAL copy of this so that I can watch it on my PAL DVD player. Any pointers?

DVD Shrink. Download, install and Bobs your uncle.

Have you a dvd burner on your computer?

Most players will actually play NTSC discs, the region is probably the issue.

If the region is the problem, then have a look on videohelp.com in the DVD hacks section for your DVD player. If there is a hack available to change the region then you're sorted. Most players let you change the region, it's just that the setting is hidden. That's the easiest way. Failing that, DVD decrypter or dvdshrink and a DVD writer in your PC will also do as a round-a-bout solution.

Make sure your TV is capable of recieving NTSC signals though, most will. DVD Shrink won't change the video from NTSC to PAL, it'll only remove the region code and Macrovision.

Just backup the dvd with dvdshrink. It removes the region encoding. Either that or try a region free player.

Yup thats the way to do it I bought a concert DVD of David gray on e-bay never checked it was Region 1 so i just did a backup of it and it worked fine! Some thing like DVD Shrink, AnyDVD & CloneDVD, OneclickDVD etc etc

or you could make your DVD player Region Free on your TV but that isnt for this thread!

To use DVD Shrink to backup a region 1 disc you'll either need to change the region of your DVD writer drive to region 1, or make it region free with a hacked firmware. If your drive is region 2 then DVD Shrink won't be able to read from a region 1 disc. You also only get to make something like 4 or 5 changes to the drives region before it becomes permenantly locked.

Just be aware of this fact before you go changing the region of the drive. If you change region from R2 to R1 and then back to R2 again, then the next change you make may be permenant.

My dvd drives are set to region 2, and never have problems baking up in dvd shrink with other region discs.

Same as, once you remove the protection it seems to region 0 after that! just do a back up and you will be able to play the Back up on any dvd player with out any problems, just to note if you are playing the Disk in an older TV it will come up in black and white as it is still NTSC coding at the end of the day!

    no its not.

dvd's are not ntsc or pal.

ntsc is the tv standard. this only comes into effect when the dvd player converts the dvd from mpeg2 to a tv signal.

so, the only prob is the region issue. for which many solutions have been given above.

Em...no...You need to do a bit more research on MPEG standards methinks. NTSC defines a resolution AND frame rate besides the actual analog transmission coding,, the mpg encoded material will have to conform to both of these standards depending on whatever one is used. Now most players do not have a problem converting between the formats, but a conversion is necessary and not just at the video DAC level. If you have a player that does not convert NTSC to PAL - rare - (And a TV that won't accept NTSC) then you'd still be screwed even after negating the region lock.
