    Help!
Polypropylene lid of a small jar was dropped into toilet and flushed. Now the toilet is blocked. Any ideas what can be done?

Did you take the plunge(pardon the pun) and put hand down loo as it might be just at the neck of waste pipe...

Mad m has a good suggestion but it would be the one l leave till last.

Why not try using a mop with a plastic bag over the top (you might want to use the mop again) and use it with a plunging motion and hope it pushes the obstruction out of the way. The lid of a small jar shouldn't really cause a problem, it probably excessive paper or ????.

If you were to take Mad M's plunge use a large plastic shopping bag to save you some cleaning up.

    Good luck

Are black rubber gloves (marigolds) really too expensive???

If you take a plastic bag and put it over you hand & arm you should be able to reach down a ways and remove 'the obstruction'.

Get a bin bag, put hand in bin bag, and reach into the loo and take out the lid. Don't push it, as it may get stuck further down the line, and you'd really be up sh|t creek then:D

If I were you I'd try to retrieve it by hand. If you force it through then it might cause a more awkward obstruction elsewhere.

    my suggtestions,

1)Keep flushing until it goes down. NB. this could lead to major bathroom flooding.

    2) Get your pet rat to swim down and retrieve it.

    3) Get a pum and build up massive force behind it from the manhole or access etc. This could also lead to massive flooding of sewerage in your bathroom though.

    4) Check an bends of the pipe on its path out more than likely the blockage is there.

    5) Call a plumber, Ie. have a bank loan to pay the rip-off merchants. Poor Ediie Hobbs got ripped off, avoid whoever he went to.

    Hi,

Maybe a combination of the above ideas, gloves or a sealed bag on the hand and up the arm, a metal coat hanger can be a useful tool when trying to dislodge a small obstruction.
