Queer + Alternative (Q+A for short) celebrates it’s 5th birthday on Friday November 11th at the Temple Bar Music Centre from 10.30.

The popular indie club returns to Dublin after a tour of Belfast with Tease. Expect to hear the latest in Rock, Indie, Pop and Dance….

The music while slightly rocky keeps a fun, dancey edge, so alongside Nirvana, NIN, Kaiser Chiefs, White Stripes and The Killers you can expect to hear Gwen Steffani, Gorrillaz, Scissor Sisters and more… The 5th birthday promises a lot of surprises including lots of giveaways for CDs, DVDs, Concert Tickets and more…. The night will also launch the new Kate Bush and Franz Ferdinand albums. Early comers will get free badges and stickers! Doors open at 10.30 and don’t forget it’s a Friday night.

Same here. Though I'm not bothered. Judging from the poster they seem to have majorly watered it down to appeal to the "usual" crowd.

In fairness I think they always try to hype the more poppy side to encourage the non-indie kids. The reality is the music usually rocks (or rawks even ). Ton of new indie stuff out this year, can't wait to have my first gay bop to it

Not always by choice though. It's a toss-up between what they want to play and having to appease to the lowest common denominator (e.g. pop...). As long as they really really minimize the Killers songs (preferably none...).

Like Damien I too happen to be in Dublin for the Sigur Rós gig. I've never been to Q&A, I'm looking forward to it! Don't surprise Kate Bush is going to grace us with a surprise rare public appearance!

Always have good craic in QnA...although not as good as sharpshooter (previous QnA in eamon Dorons)
