    Folks

some advice wanted. I am on the look out for a 'D4 tractor' with the following requirements (roughly)....

    - Must be diesel
    - Must a 4WD or AWD
    - mileage ~ 40-60k
    - budget ~ 15k

It will be used for a small amount of towing ....

Has oneone experience with any of the following:
    Jeep Cherokee
    Hyundai Sante Fe
    Kia Sportage/Sedona
    Landrover Freelander
    Subaru Outback

Which is most reliable ? Which is considered the best buy ?

define small amount of towing, what do you want to tow? not how far, but what

The Subaru is only available in petrol, and is an estate, not an SUV. You may be thinking of the Forester - which is also petrol only.

I think the Kia Sedona is an MPV.

Isuzu Tropper, Mits Pajaro, Toyota Landcruiser, etc are more suited to pulling large heavy trailers.

If the trailer your pulling is light enough and your not pulling it out of a field then take a look at the Nissan Terrano/ X-Trail or even one of the those Mits L200 pickup 4x4s might be suitable.

The amount of towing is 3 or 4 times a year. Towing another car on transporter mostly.

Vis-a-vis Kia --- its the Kia Sorrento and not Sedona....

I would look at something large, self levelling and diesel, like a Citroën C5. €15k should buy you a fine example. Or alternatively pick yourself up an XM estate for about €500 and that would do the job even better.
