If you buy real ones you don't walk funny like that. It looks awful tbh.
I have two pairs of real ones, black and chestnut. Pricey though... Got both in Fitzpatricks on Grafton St.

They aren't that nice, even for skiing I'd say they aren't too practical, proly more looks than anythign else.. ah well.. :) they suit some ppl.

Those things are an abomination. Mostly worn by girls with fat arses while wearing dirty jeans that are wayyyy too tight for them.

I can't imagine how they'd suit anyone. A girl would look as stylish by wearing wellingtons.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,151 ✭✭✭beanyb

I wear them because they're the most comfortable boots... ever.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 176 ✭✭tinka

I think they are hideous. I really dislike the whole 'trousers tucked into boots' look. And I can't imagine that they would be very good for skiing, wouldn't they get really wet?

It is considered acceptable by most people I know to wear the new fashion wellies the rubber ones and the fabric ones

    thanks for all the help!
and the advice about not being seen in public, that was...em, encouraging? ;)

they're not for actually skiing, just for wearing in the hotel or whatever so the whole getting wet thing won't be a problem!

    woop!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 936 ✭✭✭marshmallow

Yeah, as said above, I don't like the whole jeans tucked into boots. Or 'fat man pants' ie. Mannies, the baggy men's trousers tucked into boots..

They are comfortable to wear but once they're worn in they are supposed to be quite sore to walk in because you can feel any stones/pebbles/etc underfoot..

yeah, I must get a pair of them uggs, they look class, nice and furry :D

She asked where could she get them in town, she did not ask for your opinons on them ( most of you have already given in other threads ) .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

it's enevitable that a topic like this will deviate, it always does in the fashion forum.

same goes for dubarry shoes, if i posted asking where can i get them i'd be slayed with omg they look terrible times 50.

The OP asked for where to get uggs in town, and where is the cheapest. I don't see anywhere that they asked for people's opinions but still people feel the need to give them.

    Its a chat forum ffs

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,730 ✭✭✭✭simu

No, it's not a chat forum - go on irc if you want to chat. If people have an issue with a post, report it instead of complaining in the thread. (Click on the little triangular icon found on the bottom left of each post).

    Now, back on topic, folks!

Look what you've made me do!I hope you're happy! :p

On topic: Most shoe stores will carry uggs so have a look around, wouldn't have a clue where would be the cheapest though, maybe fitzpatricks.Either way, they'll definately be found on Grafton street, there's no doubt about that.

i think it's cool when people give they're opinions on quality/sutability etc because that's helpful but when people give they're opinions on whether they like the item or think it looks good they sometimes forget that everyone has they're own opinions on whats cool and what looks good.

Apres snowboarding you can wear snowboarding boots, one of the (many) advantages of snowboarding over skiing. If you're the sort to go home and shower and stuff before beer, and wanna get out of your board clobber, then you're better off with a pair of trail shoes or hiking boots - something with a bit of a tread on the sole, cos you're gonna be walking on ice and snow. you need something reasonably waterproof - i doubt uggs are that either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,151 ✭✭✭beanyb

The real ones are pretty waterproof actually, though I dont know if they'd last in snow. They were originally boots for surfers in Australia to wear to warm up their feet after getting out of the water.

I wore them in the rain this morning, the outside are soaked but my feet are still nice and toasty! And dry most importantly!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,423 ✭✭✭tinkerbell

I've worn my Uggs out in the rain, and they got soaked! Then again, my jeans are very flared and so when the bottoms of my jeans get wet, it goes right onto the top of the Ugg so it gets wet :(

And it's only those imitation Ugg boots that make you walk funny on the side of the boot, the real Uggs ain't like that at all.

I love mine, got two pairs - chestnut and purple. They are so comfy, I love 'em! I wanna get a black pair too though as well.

The best place to get cheaper uggs is online... the real ones will last you forever as for the fakes ones you might as well cellotape cardboard to a pair a socks ;)

    Try www.Topabuy.com
havnt ordered anything from them yet but the site looks promising

Just watch out for fakes! I believe there is a discussion in another UGG related thread in this forum.

Also, Fitzpatricks in Dundrum have them aswell. I think it's a slightly bigger selection than grafton st. Not sure though......

TK Maxx have real ones in at the moment. Black and the original colour, ankle and tall.
