Best turn-based games

IWhat are the best turn-based stratagy games. I only play these but dont have many apart from civ3 and rome total war:cool:

Tactical strategy games worth a look are the Combat Mission series (WWII), and TacOps (Modern). Both from Battlefront.com, they are simultaneous turn-based games.

Steel Panthers MBT has been recently released in new, windows-friendly code. Well worth a look.

Sci Fi wise; Galactic Civillisations is good - no awesome - from an AI perspective, and the sequel is due out soon.

Emperor of the Fading Suns really cries out to be remade - Its really, really showing its age at this point, but the gameplay possibilities are so deep, with a campaign over 40 worlds, battling both aliens on the frontiers and rival houses, and trying to politick votes to get control of imperial agencies....A game could last longer than a marraige tbh. And its abandonware afaik - free on Home of the Underdog anyway. Worth a dabble if nothing else. If only someone would take that game and pimp it up to 2005/2006 standards.

If you have a Gameboy Advance or a DS try the Advance Wars series. Very enjoyable.
