Ok, I decided to go into Gamestop yesterday for a browse, was not intending on buying anything. I had a look at the new DVDs section and, it fron of me:

Lost: Series One; Part One, BRAND NEW for only €29.99:eek:

I rushed to the counter with it, hoping that it wasn't a tempoary glitch. WTF? I couldn't believe it was that low. It's €39.99 off play.com and it's £29.97 on the English supermarket Asda!

Go and buy it while you can for this price!

P.S. I'm not affilaiated with Gamestop or trying to pimp them, just wanted to let everyone know this price!

uh,"part one" = half the series IIRC?
30E for only half a series is still too much IMHO.

I spend FIFTY FIVE on the mother****er HALF OF SERIES ONE in Redlight Records.

I just bought it for someone else, didnt know what the retail price was, saw it in Gamestop today and almost fainted.

Bastards at redlight. Everything in there is an absolute rip off. How are they still in business? I wanted bring the boxset back (its a present) and they said the best they can do is a credit note, which is useless to me.

Im going to write a strongly worded letter to the manager...

I'll write it tomorrow in work. You guys stay peeled for the response. I'm going to actually demand a response and include some past disgraces the Redlight crew have inflicted on me in the past (which they truthfully have, I have a mind to be cheeky enough to let the manager know I've finally learnt my lesson and won't be ever returning)

The guy your looking for is Des Hubbard (owner), he's looks like a young John Peel. He's actually really sound, just explain the price difference and he might help you out, But to be truthful, redlight is not the place to buy DVD's, its not too bad on CD's but its DVD prices are mad. You should have shopped around.

    Good luck though.

its total bull**** when dvd's are released in parts. just another way for these companies to totally rip people off. i hate it...i hate it i hate it i hate it.

anywho, its a great series (as nearly everyone knows), so i suppose its worth getting if you have the cash.

Just another good reason to buy a region-free player (or get a code on-line to remove the region encoding from a region 2 player) and get your DVD's online.

Honestly, when they treat the consumer like this how can the studios be surprised that so many people get the series from "cousins"...

ya, as much as i say they rip people off, i will admit to getting it from my "cousins" too. but i only did it cause RTE annoys the hell out of me, and those bloody "oh, jack's stuck on a desert island again" adds.

Buy it off amazon.com but make sure you eitherhave a region free dvd player or a hackable dvd player.

Took less then a week for amazon to ship the whole 1st series (E35) but I spent feckin ages going through all the dvd players in the house, not a single one worked or could be hacked properly. I ended up havin to go out and buy a new dvd player, well in all fairness cost about E50, but still be careful.

    Niall,

Did you have to pay a customs fee?, amazons site says something about that.

I can't remember exactly. It cost approx E35-37.
    Amazon:
You authorize Amazon Export to designate a carrier (Designated Carrier) to act as your agent with the relevant customs and tax authorities in the destination country, to clear your merchandise, process and remit your actual Import Fees

Some DVD players that need to be hacked by "special" remote controls can be hacked with a PDA that has an IR transmitter.

Its A Dvd-tv combi that was bought in supervalue and the name is "PCL" and the model DTA-1490. I'm having trouble locating a code for it.
