Castletown beat Camross in the SHC

Stradbally beat Portlaoise in the SFC

Both matches were won by a point

Well done to both teams, best of luck in Leinster.

The Laois hurling final was an absolute disgrace. The Castletown goalie hitting a fifteen year old Camross player on the head with a hurley, knocking him unconscious. Play held up for quarter of an hour and only 3 minutes injury time played. Ref having to get a garda escort from the pitch.

Castletown shouldn't be allowed compete in Leinster after this. Suspend the club for 6 months. Putting a 15 yr old in hospital can never be classified as sport.

    Sounds like thuggish behaviour alright.

But I don't know why you have to mention the other players age. So what if he's 15... He shouldn't be on the field if he isn't up to the physical challenge of hurling or gaelic football for that matter.

How does a deliberate blow to the head with a hurley come within the definition of "the physical challenge of hurling"?

The boy should probably not have been playing, granted, and I'm not going to argue that. What I am saying is, though, that he didn't deserve to be rendered unconscious. The age issue just puts the matter into some degree of perspective.

I have been informed that he was wearing a helmet which probably prevented him being irreperably injured

Has it happened in hurling before? Yes it has. That is my point. I'm not trying to say that the incident wasn't one of absolute thuggery, it was. But this thing of the lad being only 15 is stupid in my opinion. If it happened to a 34 year old it should be deemed just as bad.

it certainly would be just as bad regardless of age. I was merely presenting the facts of the scenario involved. His age is irrelevant. The other man's actions aren't

I hear Dean Delaney is out of hospital, which is good news.

absolute disgrace the castletown keeper should get at least a 2 year ban for that.

If he knocked him un-conscious when he was wearing a helmet just imagine what could of happened if he wasn't wearing one:mad:

Despite his age no matter how hard tough etc etc a player is you hit him like that thug of a goalie did your gonna cause major harm....I say ban him for as long as possible!!

any word on if Delaney was banned?

from what I'm hearing he was seen striking an opposing player prior to the keeper laying into him.

medical advice kept him from the original hearing yet he was still able to play in the minor final *chuckle* :v:
