    Hi all

I want to set up a SMS service for the local club at home, just an information service - to let peole know what time training is at and what time to meet up for games.

Its for people to who dont get to all the training and they cant say they didnt know

Has anybody else'es club set this service up with O2 or Vodafone - or how I would go about it- would there be a secial discount rate

    Thanks a million

02 offer 250 free texts from their website and Vodafone 300.
So if you have a Vodafone account, you could send a text to a panel of 30, 10 times in a month, that would probably cover a lot of it. And if you had 2 or 3 people to do it that would be 600 or 900 texts..

as far as I know, you have to individually enter in every mobile number on the online text, that would be know good for us as there would be 50 people on the text message list every week

I was hoping for a service that could be sent fro the handset or online to the group of people, without much hassle

you'd only have to input them once, the first time - Vodafone call it All@Once
After which, the group would have an alias so you can just send to "TheTeam" (AFAIK: you can even alias the group from your mobile phone thereafter..)

Yup: my post was correct: if you're with yodafone - login -> Messaging & Email- > All@Once
it's a bit time consuming adding entries the first time 'round (5minutes?) - it's definitely the cheapest means.

Tried looking at it now- the site must be down

is it the same price or do you get a discount- we would be sending 2 messages a week to a list of 50 people and that would be just the seniors and juniors - we havent discussed sending to the juveniles, therefore the messages would could be up to 300 a week.

A bit of a bill - when you add it up every month

02 give you 250 a month free and every 3rd message in a bundle is not counted. If you got four lads together, that'd give you 1000 for the month and enough for 300 a week because of every third one being free. .

There's lots of websites with the service you're looking for e.g. http://www.phorest.com.
If you wanted to save having type in the numbers in vodafone you could type in the contacts, call them 1,2,3,etc.

yes thats the sort of thing im looking for, ill have to check with the board, get there opinion, its cheaper to only 5.5c.

with o2 you can enter the numbers in once and then add them to a group , and they'd be free.

maybe one o2 account for senoirs and one for junoirs would give you 500 txts a month.

I set this up two years ago for my local club. It's not worth it. Players just get annoyed with it and claim that they never got the texts, if they don't turn up. Then you get more abuse.!!!!

Anyway, up to you. Check out www.mobilealerts.net

So speaking from experience, its more hassle than its worth

Its worth listening to people who have undertaken this before. i sent that guy an email www.mobilealerts.net to see what he has to say anyway.

I have plenty of time to decide before the season starts anyway

Please see Private message. I have set up similar sites for just under 5c a message. The management of groups is all online and I am happy to demo for any interested party!
