Argos DIY bargain

Are these things drill/saws good quality? How long will the circular saw work for on a single battery charge? What depth can it cut to?

Looks like a major bargin; it usually retails at well over €200. I've bought a WORX cordless hammer drill recently and was very impressed with the quality and design....if this kit is of the same quality then it's a no-brainer....

I would say its grand for DIY stuff... not for professionals.
I got a cheaper drill set than the worx ones. The power Extreme... It works and you get all kinds of drill bits. Not the best quality but will do the job around a house perfectly fine.

    Only €93 ( + recycling rip-off tax)

Heres something that gets me. The tax you refer to is non-negotiable. Why don't you put down the price you actually paid (and the price everyone else will pay). I can't see why you even mention it as an issue.

    Rant Over. Apologies.

I haven't got the specs to hand, but I'll dig out the manual and have a look.

I think the original price was €270, or thereabouts, so €93 ( + recycling rip-off tax, Genghis ;) ) is a good deal.

As for quality, they look pretty sturdy and come with a 3 year warranty.

Edit - can't find the manual, bought the kit a few months ago and the manual in "someplace safe"

Maybe the OP can help with the specs?

I bought this kit yesterday; I think it was the last unit in the Dublin shops.

I had bought a WORX 14.4V hammer drill last week for €89.99; this kit contains a higher spec. drill (18V) plus circular saw and jigsaw for a few € more. The kit is of very good quality from what I can make out; very nicely designed as well.

The circular saw is rated to cut 41mm of wood (90 degrees); more than enough for my purposes. You also get a small set of blades for the jigsaw for cutting wood/plastic/metal...

.....best bargain I've bought in a long while!....I guess Argos were selling them off at cost price just to clear the stock.

Here are the full specs - although it may be a bit late now as they are probably all gone:

    Circular saw - WX181CS - blade diam 140mm
    depth of cut 42mm@90 deg
    30mm@45 deg

    Drill - wx181HD- speed 0-350/0-1300
    chuck 13mm (keyless)

    Jigsaw - WX181JS - speed 0-1800
    stroke 24mm

    Torch

Comes with 2 X 18V batteries and charger in a sturdy box with wheels and a handle. The quaility seems good, even if it is made in China. Comes with a 3 year warranty.

DIY Bargain of the year, I would say.

Yeah, I used this kit for the first time at the weekend. I'm very happy with it, it works very well......vote number 2 for DIY bargain of the year!
