I am in the process of completing a project on major health issues in Ireland and as the Leas Cross Nursing Home is dominating the papers at the moment I decided to include this in my project.

Does anybody know where I can get detailed information on for example the amount of people who died there per year since the place began. I know 95 people staying there died altogether but I need further information.

I just need more information for the purpose of constructing graphs and pie charts. Any info greatly appreciated!

Realise that people die all the time in nursing homes and retirement homes.

Try talking to the press office in the Health Service Executive. www.hse.ie

Review of deaths in Leas Cross nursing home begins
    28/10/2005 - 08:30:24

An independent review of all deaths at the Leas Cross nursing home since 2002 has been initiated.

Medical records and standards of care in 95 cases where patients died, are being scrutinised as part of the review and a report is expected to be completed in December.
I'd say they're working on the info you want, so it's probably not really in the public domain.

    hi there,
obviously too late to assist with your project but I would of been great help to you as i worked there for many years.. I hope you didnt generalise in your project as unfortunately and you could say fortunately leascross was used as an example. In reflection, it has brought about change but I did not appreciate the explotation of the nursing home nor did I think it was a way of protecting residents as the method in which the media used invaded residence privacy.. Here is one for you, on your next project research the number of residents who died when they were forced to leave leascross(their home) and move else where.. cause believe me the results are shocking, best of luck
