The feral cat problem

Kitten Adoption is currently working in the Blackrock area to trap Neuter/spay and relocate over 35 cats and kittens the whole extent of the procedure has been filmed.

This lady contacted a cat protection group many years ago, they did not respond. She tried to spay as many cats she could herself but the situation just kept growing. Neigbour's rightly complained threats were made and this situation has not only taken it's toll on the cats...(Many may be PTS as they are not health recoverable) But also on this persons mental welfare and the "mood" of the neighbourhood, so feral cats are not just a welfare issue but also a social issue.

In Kitten adoptions mind there should be made available immediately a public POT for situations just like this. Jan my friend who runs kitten adoption receives no grants but relies on public donations.
If you can do anything please do.Jan could have done what many other organizations who were contacted did....NOTHING....But she along with some volunteers have started and have removed 12 cats/kittens from this property and will continue till the situation is cleared.

The pictures are of two kittens about 10 weeks old.
Smokey the small male cat was blood tested and NEG for FIV and FeLV. So an operation went ahead to remove his eye.
Misty was caught this morning and taken and seen by an emergency vet, her eye is also gone and what is left will have to be removed to save her life.

If you can give a Euro or two.The website is www.kittenadoption.ie you can donate via pay pal.
    My e-mail is claire4kittenadoption@lycosco.uk

If you cannot donate please put pen to paper to the dept of the environment or your local Td demanding immediate public funding to help tackle this problem as it could be you in the same position.

    The public have rights also.

    Claire for kitten adoption.

Horrific! Fair play to your friend Jan for taking this on. My two came from a similar cicumstance. One lost an eye, usually happens when the cats begin to fight. Let the absence of an eye not prevent people from giving Robinson and Misty a proper home. They will need a lot of care. A nice warm bed, food and a fire to cuddle up in front of.

In general, this kind of stuff happens becuase irresponsible people do not get their animals spayed and neuterered.

Best of luck with solving this and again, well done for spreading the word here. Maybe some of these little fellows will be up for homing soon.
