Just wonder what you think of it. I was considering piercing my own ear (lobe nothing major) Has anyone done any of their own? Im sure some people here are pro body piercers whove pierced themselves but alas im not a professional. Im just curious. Have you had or heard of any horror stories.
Or even people tattooing themselves?? ive seen some people around town who have done "indian ink" and well you know how that looks.

I know loads of people (non piecers) who've pierced their own ear lobes and nothing majors gone wrong, i still don't reccomend it though

Yup, Iknow loads of people who've pierced themselves...heard a few bad storys alright...
you might say, it's only you're ear lobe but it's nothing major, but if you do it incorrectly you're still opening yourself up to the risk of problems/infections.
If you're dead set on doing it yourself, then make sure you know what you're doing...but if its gonna be a safety pin through the ear job, forget about it and fork out to have a professional do they job ;)

Yeah I was with three people who done it on the same day.

Ya know the whole numb the ear with ice, disinfect the needle, blah blah blah.

The only thing I will say is make sure that the ear is numb.

    It's no big deal really.

really?the only thing I would of said was make sure you know what you're doing and everything is disinfected PROPERLY(not just passing a needle through boiling water/a flame)

numbness would be the last thing on my mind.

I've pierced myself a good few times. Just make sure you go through the procedure properly though, sterilise EVERYTHING thoroughly. I use boiling water and savlon myself. The after care is just as important too.

Well i was only contemplating it, cos i wanna try get an apprenticeship in a year or two, wanna finish college first. Boiling water will only kill some bacteria, not everything...autoclave is the way to go i think :) bit expensive though.
I was only wondering what people thought anyway, id only do it if i knew exactly what to do and knew i wouldnt mess it up.

If you want to make an ad-hoc Autoclave an old fasioned pressure cooker will do.The pressurised steam will get in everywhere in the equipment and does a failry good job once you keep the temps up.

I personally wouldnt use it for anyone else but if you want to start piercing yourself you could use it to sterilise equipment.

I just ment that id rather do it properly than a half assed job and suffer the consequences.
I know itd be handier to go to a studio....way handier but id rather try do it myself.

Well if your set on it give it a go. Seeing as its just your lobes you could try improvise a piercing gun out of a 2x4, some elastic bands, a masonary nail and a rubber chicken
