I don't know exactly but knowing EI it shouldn't be too long.

I noticed on their site today that they are now offering trans-atlantic flights in the UK hubbed out of either Dublin or Shannon.

This is something they should have done a long time ago and given Mannions background I'd say it will be rolled out further before too long and may result in some new US destinations; Seattle Miami and Caracas would be nice for starters

They've been doing that a while now, pre-Mannion. As for new US destinations..maybe, and only maybe, when they get the negotiations out of the way. Until then, I'd say any long haul expansion won't be to the west.

I remember seeing ads for Aer Lingus to the US in Bristol airport in the early 90s. Did they ever actually not do this?

What a pity that a deal done between Regan & Thatcher in 1984 can obstruct EI capatalising on their excellent route development.

21 years of profitability es nada

No, it would have been either Bristol - Dublin - US or Bristol - Cork - Shannon - US :D In any case I think it might have just been some Orange* advertising.

    * Orange, despite not having an Irish mobile phone licence, advertised here.

Hugo has done his bit in keeping oil prices at ridiculous levels ;)

Caracas is a good destination you can get cheap flights there to most other central/south american destinations. All the major carriers fly there such as AF, KLM, Lufthansa, BA, Iberia, Al Italia

With all the obscure cities EI now fly to Dublin can start to become a serious hub going west; somehow I can't see anyone flying from Dubrovnic or Vilnius to board a flight for Dubai but they might for LA, NY or CCS

    Sorry, that's what I meant (Bristol-Dublin-US)
