Does anyone know if there is a way of avoiding paying tax on delivery of items coming from the states? I bought headlights for a car from ebay on friday... they came this morning!!... really fast i was so happy!!.. untill the postman told me i needed to give him €54!!.. The lights were €220 including postage and packing! Is there anyway I could avoid being charged like this in future??

Well you could get the shipper to mark that the package is a gift and then you will not be charged any tax. I haven't done this but have recieved packages in the post from china and the states. and not paid tax as the seller market them as a gift.
