BBC's local radio station for London is now broadcasting FTA on
    10801
    horizonal
    22000

The station includes football commentary for London clubs. Last night I listened to Crystal Palace's win over Liverpool in the League Cup. Tonight it is Manchester United v Barnet.
The channel is not on the Sky EPG except for viewing cards registered to a London address (channel 902). We can listen to the station by adding to 'Other Channels'. With ITV going free-to-air soon, UK viewing cards will still be in demand for Channel 4, five & Danny Baker ;)

Woo! Danny Baker in the afternoon. Nice one. I always loved his old Radio 5 breakfast show.

Does this mean that other BBC local radio stations will be become available on satellite? Anyone know if BBC radio merseyside is available?

Only BBC London is there at the moment. Radio Scouse is not there.
I'm not sure if this is the start of English local radio being rolled out on DSAT.

Channel 902 was previously used for 'World Service Extra'. The BBC has just announced a reorganisation of the World Service & I understand this station is being closed. Instead of letting 902 go unused, the BBC must have decided that BBC London could benefit from it most. Tonight it has commentary for 2 football matches & an ice hockey match. BBC London can cover all via FM radio, satellite & online. Because of sports rights, I doubt any other BBC local stations will be added.

I really hope this is a trial for putting out the local radio fully, I want BBC Southern Counties Radio on satellite. Without blanking during the football and the BHA fans phone in like they do on the net.

    Thank you for your email.
There are no current plans to roll out any other local stations on DSAT at
    present.

Got this reply back from the BBC as regards other local stations other than BBC London appearing on DSat.

I would imagine putting all the BBC local stations on satellite would be expensive as theres 38 of them in England alone. The cost would be not so much in transponder capacity as in having seperate links (ISDN probably) from each studio around he country back to the Satellite uplink point and in regionalising the EPG
