is a 3.5'' HDD enclosure that can play Divx /other media files. Is it too much to ask? And the ONLY product I could find is this

If it only existed for 3.5'' drives... Anyone know of such a unit?

It's basically a Tivo without the recording part (although recording would be nice), in a small form factor. The other option would be a PMP like the Archos AV500, but it costs a fortune.

If they can build the 2.5'' one for 70 bucks, the 3.5'' one should be around the same, but the hard drives are much cheaper.

    oh well :(

I have a DVD player from Lidl. I think it's a Tevion but I can't remember the model number of it.

It plays Mpeg, Divx, MP3 etc...

What I do normally is burn anything I want to watch onto a DVD/RW and just write over it when I want to watch something else.

I know this doesn't answer your question but it is just another option for about €70 without having to buy a hard drive on top of that. But you have to wait until this offer comes around again in Lidl. I think Aldi might do them sometimes also...

Is it portable in anyway, or just a regular size?

this does not look portable at all ;) . My ideal unit would have to be the size of a 3.5'' hdd enclosure.

that's exactly what I want, as long as you can buy it without a HDD, and is not too big. Any specifications in English, as my Korean is not up to par :(

edit: nevermind, I found a review of it here: http://www.tomshardware.com/consumer/20050106/. Excellent, but expensive(?) and does not play xvid files, at least with the early firmware. Can you even find one of these in Ireland?
