I wonder how the games have rated here in Ireland and the UK?

    Ratings Success

The start of Kangaroos Gillette Tri Nations campaign has already confirmed a growing appetite for International Rugby League with two weeks of rating success on the Nine Network.

Despite a two and a half hour delay last Friday, Australia's 28-26 defeat of New Zealand at Ericsson Stadium peaked at 559,000 viewers in Sydney and averaged 461,000. In Brisbane the match peaked at 355,000 and averaged 319,000.

Live coverage of the previous match at Telstra Stadium, had produced a peak of 603,000 viewers in Sydney and an average of 554,000. In Brisbane a peak of 387,000 and an average of 351,000.

Both matches won their timeslots convincingly and played a role in Nine winning both ratings weeks.

"As we head to the UK matches it's a great indicator of the interest the Kangaroos generate," ARL Chief Executive, Mr Geoff Carr, said today.

"Already the matches have proven to be tremendously exciting and the challenge is only going to increase when we hit the UK.

"The Australians fiercely want to protect their position as the country's most successful sporting team but they are under no illusions about how hard a task that is."

The Australians fly out on Thursday.

The draw for the 2005 Series is as follows:

    Sat 29 October 2005 - GB V NZ 6.15pm Loftus Road, London

    Sat 5 November 2005 - GB V Aust 6.15pm JJB Stadium, Wigan
