I'm thinking of buying this Dell and was wondering if its an ok deal??
Could I get a better deal for a similar PC somewhere else?
I don't want to build my own as I don't know how but I know it'd probably be cheaper.

For gaming the X600 is not a great card. You need a x800 or 6600/6800. Its certainly no bargain.

I tried on the Dell Outlet store and got this.

    Dimension 5100 (System Identifier. 09EKVB9Z)
    Dimension 5100 Pentium 4 541 (3.20)
English - Win XP SP2 Home
    512MB (2 X 256, NON-ECC400MHZ DDRII)
    250GB 7200rpm SATA Hard Drive
    ATI Radeon X600 256MB HyperMemory
    V.92 Data Fax Modem Ire/Spn
    16 X DVD +/- RW
    Microsoft® Works® 7.0
    Dell Standard PS2 Keyboard
Dell 2 Button PS/2 Scroll Mouse

Added a Dell 17'' LCD Flat Panel Monitor and it came to

Price incl. VAT excl. del: EUR 937.34

Faster CPU and bigger HD but less RAM. There doesn't seem to be any decent bargains on the outlet lately. None with good gfx cards either.

not a bad pc for the price - i'd go with the second - it's actually a ridiculous bargain. Buy asap though - offers only on for 2 more days. Btw - the 800 series of processors are far superior to the 600 series & 2.8ghz is plenty anyway! :)

If you go to www.pigsback.com and click on the "dell" link on the left,
you can get 5 piggypoints for every € spent with Dell.
So if you spent €929 on a system, you'd get 4645 points which is worth (roughly) 46.45 in cash terms.
Same machine, same everything but at least you get something back!
