Not Smoking...

This is not an anti smoking thread by any means but I was curious is there anyone hear that has never smoked...I mean has no idea what it even feels/tastes like to smoke...

I'm 25 now and I have never smoked and I can't even say why...when I was in secondary school all my mates smoked but I really couldn't be arsed...I think it's the smell of the things...

So, this is not a smoking poll as such (as in who smokes and who doesn't), rather an exercise to see who has or hasn't ever smoked.

I smoke, I'm not sure why. None of my friends at school did, and I was never pressured into it at all, I just sort of fell into it.

What does it taste like? Erm, all cigarettes have different kinds of taste and a lot of it's personal preference. Personally, I like ones that don't taste like you're smoking a test tube (like most of the cheapest ones do), but also give you a bit of a cut at the back of your throat - rather than something like Marlboro Lights which you don't even notice swallowing.

And yeah, I know I should stop, but I don't want to.

I happen to know of a couple of the guys in that video, it was shot in the '90s. Two of the boys are heroin addicts and one of them is a big time crystal meth dealer...none of them actually smoked before that video what shot...

I didn't even notice that! In 2005, I put on my bebo that all smokers were disgusting and I'd never smoke because "I didn't want lung cancer".

    Lol...

Never smoked in school either OP, used to see my mates and wonder why they did it.
Then in my second year of college we had a big presentation to do so I decided out of the blue to buy a cigar in town to celebrate afterwards. Really enjoyed the flavour of the cigar and how it meant I had to take 30 minutes to myself to relax in the smoking area with it just thinking about life and chilling.
Since then I've had a good few more cigars every now and then, I smoked a pipe for a while and a couple of boxes of cigarettes. On the cigarettes I'm lucky/unlucky in that I've never been a habitual cigarette smoker i.e. I'm not a 20 a day man. Instead I can and have gone months without smoking them and then one day decide I'm in the mood for a smoke and go out and buy a box.

As regards the feeling, cigars and pipes are all about retiring somewhere relaxing to savour the flavours which can range from chocolate to cherry to floral notes. You don't really inhale these, you can but it's not very common. Cigarettes are inhaled and if it's your first time will give you a nicotine high making you light headed. After that they give you a relaxing feeling.

Sorry just saw this is an ancient thread, mods feel free to delete my ramblings

Smoked briefly when I was younger, decided it wasn't for me and gave it up.

Still hanker for the odd one these days but the recent memory of my Dad in hospital with lung cancer puts a stop to that.

:pac: I certainly haven't tried that.

I have smoked weed so I know what it's like but neber tried a cigarette except once in a drunken jokey protest at my gf's smoking. One drag and just sputtered and asked why would anyone do this and you're not even getting a buzz?

I smoke, sort of fell into it during the Leaving, am now 21 and keep telling myself I should quit sooner rather than later. I hate cigarettes though, only smoke Amber Leaf

    19 and have never smoked.
My parents smoking and suffering kind of turned me off the idea!
Awful smelling things and expensive too.

    hello,

just thought Id answer this question from 2005 with some information about this new invention I heard about from someone else, not me, not my company even though I share the same name as the owner, thats a complete coincidence

Anyway, this company have introduced a new thing called cigarettes to the market, it makes you look cool and gives you an air of confidence in social situations. I have found that I look effortlessly suave and sophisticated when I light a cigarette and I am beating the women away with a pointy stick. Also its highly addictive so pretty soon everyone else will be doing it and you can rightly claim to be a trend setter

pm me for more details about this great new product called cigarettes

    All the best

    Smokey McSmokerson

Edit - oooh, hello Gordon, Buffy Bot, Zaph why am I in Prison??? The Injustice! Free Smokey!

Wouldn't the exercise be a lot easier if you just made a poll?

42 and never had so much of a filthy drag of a cancer stick.

My old man in his late sixties the same.

Shame I can't say that for the rest of my family.

If there is just one thing that I do for my daughter and that is to make sure she follows in my footsteps just like I did my father's.

Fine if I must be labeled like a jar of jam I'll go down as a sporadic smoker, I don't have the enthusiasm or energy to do it full time or regularly so smoke on and off every now and then. I presume this still isn't a good enough answer is it, ah well.

36 and I've smoked since I was about 13/14, at one point I would've had an 80 odd a day habit and the odd nice cigar at weekends. I'm down to 20 odd a day now, and my father being a smoker all his life gave up the smokes at forty odd for my brothers tenth birthday. I'll probably have them given up before then if my eight year old has anything to do with it. Every time I leave a pack of smokes lying around he either snaps the whole lot or fcuks the pack out the window! :pac:

32 years old and have never smoked. My Dad has smoked for 60 odd years. My mother died in December from cancer caused by passive smoking (she never smoked herself). I'm about to put a nebuliser on my father now. His lungs are fcuked from those 60 odd years of smoking.

To say I hate them would be an understatement. The pain and suffering they have caused my family and I is not measurable.

Look into the e-cigarettes. The proper ones, and not the sh|tty ones you get in the newsagents, as they only have 8mg of nicotine. Get a decent pipe, and start off at 24mg, with a fruity flavour, or, heck, cigar flavour :P

You'll be able to smoke vape like a trooper, and still be grand.

Chronic insomnia nummnutts tbh, chronic insomnia and copious amounts of coffee, like a vicious circle- no sleep = more coffee, more smokes, but I've managed to cut back a lot on both, but even rohypnol pills prescribed to help me sleep just pure weirded me out because I woke up too "fresh" in the morning, so I came off them.

I did actually buy the Kanger with all the assortments and bits but it was just too weird syco tbh, nothing at all like the real thing, for me at least, just something "unnatural" about it :(

It's been a month since I smoked tobacco. I've vaping instead and sure I haven't quit completely but, I'm healthier and generally feel better. I was only a lightweight 20 a day smoker. Now 3ml a day of delicious vaping juice :).

Have probably smoked about 3-5 cigarettes in my life. And even at that, the last time was about 10 years ago. I have no idea how people like smoking. It's one of the weirdest things human beings do.

Nobody likes it at the beginning, it's a gradual descent into addiction. When you do get hooked things change, it's a very pleasurable sensation, the taste, the calm soothing effect it has on the body and mind.

Yeah but that's my point, nobody likes it at the beginning, and yet people go back for more. That's why it's weird. I've no doubt it becomes pleasurable once you get hooked, but it's just funny how people go back for more even though they didn't like it!

I smoked 2 cigarettes in my early 20s. I really liked the taste.

But I will not smoke again, I just can't ignore the negatives. It's a disgusting habit. Smokers stink. It's a waste of money and just one of the stupidest things anyone can do.
