Mr brother is building a Westwood kit car, and for his birthday i was thinkin about getting him some kit that i saw on top gear a while back. It is attached to the steering wheel i think and gives a read out of the cars performance and that.
I have been lookin around the net but have found nothing, anybody got any suggestions?

    regards

Sounds like what you're looking for is a telemetry/data-logging system. Pick up a copy of 'Motorsport News' this week and check out the classifieds section at the back. There's usually a few ads there for companies selling that kind of kit. Though most, if not all, of them will be UK-based companies. Still though, would be a good starting point in your search, I reckon.

Or just try doing a Google search for "data logging equipment" or "motorsport data logging" or something like that. If you're lucky it just might bring up a few Irish hits for you.

    Hope that helps! :D

like anything, it depends on how deep you want to get into it.

for just lap\sector times, alfano make a good and realativly cheap one.

if you want data logging in details with probes, PI is the way go go. Big bucks though.

The system that is most commonly used nowadays is AIM,an Italian company i do belive. We deal through an agent from England for our bits and pieces. It starts at about £750 sterling, this includes dash display wheel sensors water and oil temp and presures etc and includes software for laptop download. All parts are also available which helps when you lose a wheel or two against a barrier! You can also get a steering wheel display this package starts at around £1000 sterling.
PI are a bit expensive we found but worth getting a quote.

Stack is another company that you can build on to the package you buy they start at around £950 for the basic.

If you need phone numbers e mail me.

Oh when you download info they all draw a lovely little track diagram to show where you turned, braked and accelerated...........
