I realise this is a very lazy, unromantic way to pick something nice for her but i really need help!!! Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm planning to bring her out for dinner later, but id like to get her a gift aswell!

Thanks for your suggestions so far! What about these options:

I Know she likes newbridge jewelery but im afraid that if i pick out something she wont like it! Is it ok to give a gift voucher, or is that another lazy way out of the situation. Oh yeah, she has been drooling all over this Pretty woman DVD, Baileys and malteasers gift pack lately! That might be a good option. So is a gift voucher acceptable

No, no gift vouchers, gift vouchers are ok for your sister, your boss, maybe your mother (although you thread a fine line with that one) but vouchers are never ok in your situation!

Yeah that might be a good option though you might want to give her something that every time she looks at it she's reminded of you tbh.Things she might use every day(and hence be reminded of her love for you every day :D ) might be:
A new phone would be a nice surprise, or you could get her an iPod(if she doesn't have one) with a message engraved on the back, jewellery(a new watch?) etc...
Or you could get her a new bag and matching shoes...girls seem to love that kind of stuff.

Thanks for the heads up on the vouchers audge. Ok I've got the DVD Pack sorted, now for something else! She is a teacher and has just started a new job so it would be nice to get her something that she can bring with her to school. Any teachers out there with any suggestions? Maybe something to hold all her stuff, that looks professional but not too professional?
Thanks for all the other suggestions, problem is I've already gone throught the obvious ones like phones, perfume etc and need to get something different for her!!!

Its new, and really smells nice, people prob wont go near the stuff cos its J-LO brand, but honestly, if you can over look branding then you really will like this stuff, its gorgeous!

get her loads of small things and wrap them individually so she gets to open each one, and then a bigger thing! pretty woman is one, the lush stuff is a really good idea (they do gift packs if you dont know what to get her) and it is something that you can enjoy and it doesnt have the same stigma as buying her knickers, if she is becoming a teacher get her a joke present like some chalk and a mug and maybe the j-lo perfume if she really likes it - it shows you were listening! history of ireland stuff is cool, if she likes newbridge take her to the shop in newbridge and tell her to pick the piece she wants! explain that you were going to get it yourself and you even went into shops looking (even if you didnt) but you wanted to make sure she really liked it and didnt just wear it out of guilt

A romantic weekend in Paris, It would be a perfect dirty weekend away ;) Or you could let her settle for some cheapo Elizabeth Duke Chav Jewelry.

Oh definitely a Louis Vuitton bag for her to take to school! haha

I am with the "no voucher" rule....if you can't choose something yourself then don't go the voucher!

What is a history of Ireland bracelet? I have found the most delish chop in Dublin (only online as I am in AUst) but I love anything from here www.allcladdagh.com

Depends on how old she is as well I reckon! I think something like jewellery is always a lovely thoughtful option......as with perfume. Or what about a voucher (the only time I would allow that!) for a massage/facial / beauty treatments.

Good luck! Tis my bday on Saturday......anyone who would like to send me a pressie feel free! ;)

Folks, Just to follow up on yesterdays post! I got through the birthday gift conundrum after! I decided on the following and it went down a treat:

Baileys, malteasters and Pretty Woman DVD,
Newbridge Silver bracelet (Took a chance on picking it out and she seemed to like it!)
    Franz Ferdinands new CD,
Bought her one of those girly books that she loves - How will I know i think its called!,
2 Tickets for off the rails in the RDS.

I brought her out to a fancy restaurant yesterday too so she was well impressed!!

So if anyone needs any suggestions on what to get they can use some of this as a suggestion!!

I once bought the wife a jacket and put an item of matching jewelry in each pocket. She liked it.
