Folks, If anyone can help I'd appreciate it to the tune of a virtual pint.

A friend is trying to trace a mercedes 200 (prewar) which used to belong to Jimmy Foyle, it was an ex embassy car with the registration ZA 5362. The last they heard it was in Dublin. They have one the same which needs full restoration and there are a few items they would like to check out which are missing on their car.

    There's a mercedes club? Is there a website/contact details?

AFAIK there is a Merc club.
There was a gathering of Mercs at a few shows I've been to in recent years, hence my idea that there is a club.

Sorry, don't have a site addy.

    Silvera.

Actually, contact the IVVCC (link in my Clubs thread) for a Merc Club contact, as most clubs are affiliated with them.

    Will do, thanks Silvera.

Thanks Junkyard - it could well be. It's a DS friend of mine who's in town next weekend. I know nothing about the car myself, just wanted to put him in touch with an owner.

    Hi !

    Yeah..............I missed this one.............actually I havent been around for a while !

I actually run one of the Irish Sections for the Mercedes-Benz Club (www.mercedes-benz-club.co.uk) and I have a list of all current members, some have supplied their cars details so I'll have a look through it to see if anything shows up.

I will also ask the Club database to trace the owner and that reg. number. If the original owner was a member ever, then we'll have it !

Unfortunatley a lot of folk with valuable cars dont give their specific details to the Club, but worth a try ! If you have any other specifics, model type, chassis designation it would help !

Sorry MercMad, I've only the details posted - I'll try to get in touch with them and they can post themselves. I'd appreciate the search, though.

Okay.............nothing in my own list of 175 members unfortunately !

I will check the Club Archives, it may take a few days, and obviously if the guy never joined or never gave car details we'll be out of luck !

However if you CAN get those chassis details I'm sure we can get the info required. The club has a massive amount of info on file AND we've experts for each Mercedes Model ever made !

    Okay.............eventually some information !

Our Gazette was only published with this request inside recently, its the January edition. Anyway my letter yeilded some good results, a gent from Belfast remembered the car very well, and knew Jimmy Foyle. He has a lot of photos of every part of the car dating from 1990 and is willing to copy or post these to whomever made the enquiry !

DS........I will send you a PM with his contact details so you can forward his number. He is only to willing to talk and help whatever way he can !
