Anyone play these or other Sim's? Falcon 4, i688, Fleet Command, etc.

I know that the genre is a dying one but hey it's still my favourite and I haven't seen much interest here at boards.ie

    Please, I'm lonely:)

I'm waiting for one to come along that has multiplayer code worth a damn in it. There hasn't been one yet. :)

    Teeth.

I don't mean multiplayer. My phone connection is crap and I don't play much online.

Just want to know if anyone else out there plays sims in general.

Well I'm about to get into Falcon4 soon enough (got RAM and waiting for friend to give meh the new realism patch).
There's a seemingly much more dedicated crew around Flight sims, also generally older. No muppets. :)
The first Floght sim I remember was Strike Eagle II on my Amiga 600
£20 it cost me up in Dublin in '94

Played it for months, till my friend lost the manual with all teh copy-protection stuff :(
I've moved onto Flashpoint now in the way of general sims/wargames

There was an excellent ariel war game for the old Amiga500, can't remember the name but essentially you could play any country in the middle east. The war was fought but radar and satalite images in real time and it really kicked ass. Its as a "Fligh" sim, but definitly the best air wargame I ever played. Anyone remember the name of it??

I have had an awful amount of trouble with it. For one it doesn't work out of the box (in win2k at least) and there are about 15-20 patches to apply to it if you are going with the realism patch. I managed to get it running once, but lost it when my partition tables collapsed. Havent been ableto get it running in 2k since. Really good game though, and well worth the effort if u can get it running.

SyxPak I have a CD with all the Falcon patches and a pretty good guide to installing them. It is getting a bit crazy the amount of patches, add-ons etc. I could send you a copy if you want.

Basically there are two versions of Falcon 4, eFalcon and RP.

Efalcon concentrates more on the in plane aspects of the game simulating a pilots experience. Eg. Over 40 different buttons to press to start the plane :) They also implement some graphic improvements.

RP concentrates on the "world" in Falcon. Improving AI, database changes to make all units behave like in the real world etc.

It's matter of taste really and recently just to make matters more confusing there is a patch which is a hybrid of the two.
