can anyone recomend the best set of bass strings to go on an old Rickenbacker? someone told me Elixir strings were awesome but am not sure if they suit the ric's style and also they're very pricey.

    any ideas?

Elixirs are some of those new coated strings, right? I use DR's for my bass, they seem to stay bright a lot longer and never get totally dull, as long as I keep em clean.

Be interested in trying some coated strings tho.....DR has new coated ones in red, blue and black colors

I like Ernie Ball strings. I'd whole heartedly recommend them.

cool. im really unsure tho. id hate for my ric to turn into a run of the mill bass if i put the wrong strings on it.

Blue Steels, everyone seems to rave about them. Never tried em myself though but I plan on picking up a few packs when I head to Ny in 2 weeks.

But Id reccomend DR Lo-Riders, very good strings.

Rotosounds for the Ric, no question.

Agreed, I use nothing but rotosound strings and I have no doubt they'd sound great on a Ric.

I personally think rotosounds are the worst strings I've ever bought. I don't care what John Entwhistle said about them.

I've tried Ernie Balls, Daddario and Fenders on my Ric. None of them are even close to the sound of Rotosounds on my Ric.
