Cathedral have always been a hit or miss band for me, I like some of their stuff, can't stand the rest. I haven't heard too much of their stuff recently that kept me interested at all, however I had read enough really positive reviews about their current album from reliable sources to have my interest suffiently aroused to invest.

    Result.

This disc ****ing rocks, notably North Berwick Witch Trials in particular. Best of all, given the large apple in the artwork and apple design on the cd itself, when you rub the top of the cd, your nostrils are greeted by a sweet apply scent, I **** you not :DThat is how you rock and roll!

I highly recommend this album to anyone with an interest in Sabbath influenced Metal with big grooves, great stuff.

I'm like you, I've always found Cathedral to be a patchy affair. However having trusted you on so many other releases I feel I should check this out.

I think you'll like the last song 'The Garden'. It's a really good album, lots of parts where you just find yourself thinking Yeah! :)

Hmm.. this sounds promising. I thought Cathedral went downhill quite a bit once the decided to up the tempo a little, at the risk of trying to sound "TRUE DOOM" or something that like. The faster stuff has some fantastic moments, but it generally doesn't have the impression the earlier stuff has. I can still appreciate their groovier moments though.

As for the apple scented CD... err... no comment.

I have The Ethereal Mirror and Carnival Bizzare, and while The Carnival has their best song (Hopkins Witchfinder General) The first time i listened to 'Mirror i thought wow! So i might just invest in this album! Thanks!

Anyone catch them when they supported HIM? My cousin and friend did, hope they come back again soon!

I picked this up today, I've come across a few yeah! moments so far (like right now during "Corpsecycle") but haven't got to "The Garden" yet.

Corpsecycle is a pop tune. It rocks, mind :v:

    Interesting fact:
This albums name appears to have come from the name of a painting by Hieronymous Bosch called 'the garden of earthly delights'.
Something new everyday, i tells ya.

    Isn't that all that matters?

"The Garden" was deadly. At first I wasn't gone on it but once it got into the song I was well into it. A bit short though :D
