Yeah, same happend me. checkout http://www.jackjohnsonmusic.com/forum2/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=1

if you don't already know about it.am sick i didn't get any. half thinking of goin to somewhere in Europe but am hoping a bigger venue will be chosen or an extra date will be put on like in the UK.

Reckon he's so popular form word of mouth round here and people who've travelled to Oz & NZ where he's huge.

The pre-release ones went on sale on wed at 12. They had this advertised on ticketmaster too so I reckon loadsa people got them on wed (like me) :) which is why they probably sold out in such a quick time.

they only released 200 of em on wednesday. i was lucky enough to get a couple.

they sold out on saturday in about 4 minutes according to ticket master.

shows how effective word of mouth can be.
most people i know heard about him while on J1s in california. like ixus said it must have happened in Oz and NZ too. then introduced his music to their mates.

its gonna be an amazing gig!

For future reference, the best way to get tickets for popular Irish gigs is to
hit the Ticketmaster UK site. Myself and two mates got 4 tickets each, no
    problem.

dubwhite your not looking to sell 3 are you?

I was shocked that so many people knew of JJ when tickets went on sale. I kind of prefer the idea of him being unknown here, don’t like hearing his songs on main stream radio (today fm, spin 103.8 play him loads) and MTV uk & eire now play him around 6.

I hope they change the venue! I say there will still be a huge number of fans trying to get tickets the second time round if they do.

Not at the moment anyway, McSqueeb... we were buying for a large group of mates, so I think they're all spoken-for. I see they're already selling on eBay for about e100 apiece... that's bad form

They chose Vicar St as the venue based on his record sales here, I reckon. Too many of his 'fans' in Ireland are people who didn't fork out for the CDs. If everyone had actually bought the CDs instead of downloading/copying them, a more realistic venue would probably have been chosen.

I got 4 for the Cardiff gig the following week, too. The venue holds about seven or eight thousand, so it'll be interesting to see if any of the atmosphere is lost.

Ye seeing them on Ebay really pisses me off, and for stupid prices. That’s true about the cd’s most people have copy of a friends copy etc…

I notice on his site (www.jackjohnsonmusic.com) alot of the English gigs have changed venue!

If you end up having spare please please get back to me :o (i asked first)

It would ruin the gig if he played somewhere else. vicar street is probably the best venue in ireland. especially for an accoustic gig like jack johnson.

people should be buying his albums. its worth paying for the actual cd if the artist deserves it unlike some other gateth gates karaoke crap. he also donates 1% of album sales to charity.

anyone get his new dvd yet? if its anything like his other 2 its going to be amazing.

I'm sure it's not just people ripping off his CD's. I picked up my albums in NZ and anyone else who heard of him abroad probably did the same as they'd be cheaper.

Yeah everyone I know who likes him got his albums in Thailand, Oz etc when they were away. Everyone, myself included, seems to have heard of him and his music on their travels :)

    Hey guys,

I just got two tickets to Vicar Street but get this...I paid €351 for two!!! Very steep but I feel it will be the gig of the year! Been a fan since 2002 and have always wanted to see him in concert!

How many of you will be there? By the way totally recommend Johnathan Rice in Whelans on the 7th November, its a Monday night, but just to hear the songs Mid-November and So Sweet it'll be worth it!

    later

    Times like these.
    Dreams be dreams.
    Holes to heaven.
    Traffic in the sky.

    Loosing hope.
    It's all understood.

    Breakdown.
    No other way.
    If I could.
    Never know.
    Sitting, waiting and wishing.

    Argh...

Just wondering what you guys think is his best album?

I thought going on top of the pops was a terrible move...just like john mayer when he went on TRL about 3 years ago...

Brushfire Fairytales is my favourite by far...I hope he play F-Stop Blues at the gig....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 598 ✭✭✭DrummerBoy

I'd be more of an On and On fan. Not to hot on the latest album.

John Mayer......anyone else think he sounds like a watered down Dave Matthews?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 140 ✭✭irishraven

The songs comfortable and Covered in Rain are truly amazing songs! Fair enough YBIAW is a bit over the top but even the song Wheel on his 2nd album is a classic...

Dave Matthews is in a league of his own but his sole release Some Devil was pretty awful so thats my two cents....Crash being my fav DMB album btw...

Have any of you heard of a guy called David Jackson Project - "Breaking Ground" is the name of his album...he is amazing, I picket up his cd on awarestore.com in the states which may I add is prob the best online store for music if you like me hate the Radio!David Jackson

he has a new one called "sprout". if its anything like the others its gonna be amazing. especially the bundoran and donegal town bits in thicker than water. he stuck around for a while up there and brought alll the local kids surfing. how cool is that!?

he also produced the soundtrack for a movie called sprout.

i prefer brushfire a bit more than on and on. havn't really warmed fully with in between dreams, but i suppose its the same with all great albums! though breakdown is one of his best songs IMO.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 140 ✭✭irishraven

I will have to agree that breakdown is excellent - I actually do like some of the songs on the new album, its just a shame that it is getting "Pop" release - the charts over here for the most part are pathetic...

Thicker than water soundtrack is amazing...big fan of G-Love and Tom Curren + the Voyes are very good also....

Have you seen the dvd "Step Into Liquid"? prob the best surf dvd along with "the endless summer" - classics!:D
