    Howdi do-di,

I've got a tad bit of a problemo. I was using me winxp cd there a few months ago and I hit the case as it was in the drive, the cd got scratched to crap. Bits of it are readable but more than half of it isnt.

There was a thread about this a good while back but I've scrolled as far back as I can and cant find anything. I was able to get my hands on a WinXpPro SP2 cd but it wont take my oem as the original cd I had was sp1. I believe this is the problem.

So what I'm wondering is there anybody our there that would be able to hook me up with a copy of xp-Pro-Sp1-oem version.

I've contacted dell and I got on to a rude shíte, basically told me to go stuff it and buy a new one. I dont see the point in that as all I need is the cd, not an oem.

    Anywho thanks in advance :)
(and sorry it was so long)

You said it won't take your "OEM"? Do you mean your licence key is an OEM key? If so, a normal retail version of XP won't work with it. Service pack level won't make a difference to the key.

Also, some OEM's set up their CD's so that they won't install on machines not recognised as one of their own, so you may have problems installing a version of XP from a different oem. I think there are ways around that though, consult google.

I dont know if it will take my oem. I havent been able to get my hands on the right cd. I was only able to get a new xp cd that was for sp2. The cd I had was sp1.

For instance a bit of removing and adding files and create a ISO from it and slipstream SP2 into it.

Done this with Dell cd's before haven't had any problems yet.
