    Nice to see this back....

Just a watching brief for me today but I am gonna have a small each way on Kestral Heights...just cause I don't want him to win behind my back. I got a tip for this one earlier in the year on his hurdles debut if my memory serves me right. Was hard on the bridle for much of the race, hit a hurdle awkwardly and the jockey seemed to ease him back. The consensus was to watch for this one next time out. Strangely he never appeared over the hurdles after that, just a few flat trips where he ran creditably but never had the speed to make stake a serious claim.

On his hurdling debut he was 13/2. This race is pretty much the same, this time he's 33-1. I dunno...if he ran well in this and went on to run well in a few moderate hurdle races...I wouldn't be surprised...

Feel free to add your own Punchestown musings.

A bit of a stab in the dark for me, but I'm quite interested to see how Purple Shuffle in the 3:45 gets on in its handicap debut. It's maiden form reads quite well. He looks to be reasonably handicapped off 95, it's last race was when he was beaten by 7 lengths by Black Ouzel conceding 5lb, off level weights you would expect them to finish very close together. Black Ouzel, however is rated 107 so on that basis Purple Shuffle doesn't look at all harshly treated.

Most of his better efforts have come in big fields so today should suit, he also has the assistance of Barry Geraghty on board today.

Ah there's nothing wrong with a good stab in the dark every now and again.
