I have the Evo I head and it is a superb amplifier. Louder than you'll ever need. So ends about a year and a half of searching Ferdi, eh? ;)

Ashdowns are beautiful. Just got myself a mag 2X10 combo. Loud as hell and a beautiful sound. Wouldnt really want to play through anything ekse the ABMs and EVOs are even nicer, just couldnt spring the extra cash.

Ashdown are the ****. Really top notch amps. I'd marry one if it wasn't slightly illegal.

well i just got my abm evo 300 combo home.
believe me, you wish you owned this box :p
what can i say, it sounds like silky....silk :)
very ****ing loud as my entire estate just discovered
why would you ever need a combo so loud and when will i need the sub hamonics knob
    no footswitch with it
once i get one i'll be able to exploit that grumbling tube grind with ease ;)
i wonder when the neighbours will start complaining :o
    pretty soon i'm guessing
having an amp of this quality means i'll need to get (pay for)a better bass :(
but for now, i'm gonna rock out :D

The old Crate BX-160 I had was dead. I have my first band practice coming up Sunday, and I needed something loud enough for practices.
The first thing I did was look to see if the Roland Bass Cube 100 was immediately affordable. It wasn't.
The store had a GK Backline head & 15" cab for $299, but I wasn't sure that I wanted to go that route, since I'll be getting the real GK 700RB-II stack in the spring. Then I saw the Behringer Ultrabass 60w and asked the salesman if they had 100w units. He said, "I think I might have something for you," and went into the back to get it while I tried out the 60w combo.
The 60w was nice and loud, but not quite enough oomph for my purposes. When the salesman came back, he brought this Ultrabass 1200, which is 120w, for only $199!
I liked the sound of the 60w and needed something for the weekend anyway, so I bought it without trying it and took it home.
Boy, was I surprised.....it's immensely loud and has some great features....an 'amp in', a balanced DI out, aluminum cone 12" speaker, and even came with a footswitch to switch between 2 channels with separate gains!
No effects or models, but I just threw the Microcube on top of it for a preamp and what a great combo!

Before you go out and buy that I say wait for the new 450W amp their bringing out. I was holding out for it, then the sale happened but it looks beautiful and Im sure it will sound as good if not better then the BX1200. At least check it out.

It's a question of cost. If you can afford to wait and possibly pay a much higher price for the 450w, then go for it....but I bought this combo because I needed something quick.
For what the 450w will probably cost, you might do better with another brand, i.e., Roland or even GK.
Yes, it's way loud, but you need a fine hand on the controls not to let it get muddy. Which leads to my future thread, "how to use multi-effects/amplifiers realistically without turning up to 11 and expecting more than they can possibly give". :)
Having said that, I must say that this is a whole lot of wattage for the money. I will say that for the price I paid, this is a GREAT bargain. I'm not vouching for their higher level stuff because I simply have no experience or listening time with it.
This amp will fulfill my needs for volume and punch in practices with a loud hard rock band....but it will not be my gigging amp.

Its not that much more expensive, http://musicstore.de/en/Bass/7_15_BCOMBO_82_A/2/0/0/artikel/musicstore.html
Even the 300W is only about E30 more expensive.

Ahhh, the 450 is a 45watt amp. The only combo bigger than mine there is the 1800, 180watts. Seems to me though that I'd want a 15" speaker and a horn for 180watts. Good price though, if I read them right!

Edit: Actually I converted to English and lost a few amps.... The 3000 looks like the big deal of the day there (300w, 15" speaker).

Edit: Jeez, now that I look at it again, I see the 4512, the 450watt. All I can say is I'm hung over.
Kids, don't try this at home. I am a trained professional. :D

Yeah its the 4512 that I was talking about.

I was gonna get the 450watt amp but they dont have it on thomann yet and according to the behringer website it hasn't been released yet and i'd prefer not to deal with music store because ive had a terrible experience dealing with them.
I had to wait 2-3 months for them to replace a faulty amp i bought from them. Plus adding tax and delivery is too much messing about.
