Hi, just about to purchase some thermostatic showers for our house build. Which brand would you recommend...Acqualisa, Mira, Hudson Reed or any others?? We are putting in a pressurized system.

BuilderWoman, I am considering fitting a pump, which one did you get? Any comments on Monsoon (1.5 and 1.8 bar models)?

    thanks!

PS: Also, I have Grohe Grohethrem 1000 thermostatic valves etc - are the any good, any one?

Positron, I haven't seen Monsoon anywhere we have been shopping. Grohe have a great name and a price to match. Friends say Aqualisa are great. So I think that we will go with Aqualisa and Mira in various ensuites and bathrooms etc.

id go with grohe myself although they would cost that few quid more, having said that you shouldnt really have any problems with a thermostatic shower bar the filters getting blocked as long as its fitted correct!

    Hi All,

Which would be the best- value and quality- thermostatic shower valve to go with nowadays in general? And where to purchase? Would ebay/amazon be a runner?

I have quotes for 2 from Dublin bathroom shops:

Mira Coda Pro ERD with Diverter deluge heand and handset: €475

Onyx thermostatic shower valve with rain head and handset: €195

I was also hoping to install one concealed valve but with a simple power shower head rather than the rainhead type. I really like the american style ones- really simple and sturdy. Is there any point in importing based on cost and quality? Would the measurements/technical requirements be a pain?

    Would really appreciate some advice!
    Thanks!

I wouldn't import from the states myself.

Mira still have the best reputation for cartridge showers. They are still stockings parts for showers from 40 years ago. They are expensive for parts but most manufacturers stop making parts 7 years after they discontinued the shower

Davies in Harmonstown have it on offer for €399
This their online or showroom price. Your plumber should be able to get a decent whack off that bringing it close to the Amazon price
