I like the bit around 3/4 of the way in where he kind of jumps up and grabs the crevice. Shame he looks like a tit.

That's not a crevasse John 2, you get a crevasse in ice. That route he's doing isn't very hard at all. But he has done some really hard routes in his time and really pushed the grade in climbing.
BUt he's dead. Died around '98 doing a rope jump in Yosemite.

    But him jumping is mad.
Btw where were the cameras, were they some small cameras on ropes?

I never said "crevasse", I said "crevice". A crevasse is a split in glacier (as far as I remember) but a crevice is a fissure in anything.

2 things: he obviously knew the route quite well & there's a lot of editing there (where'd all the cameramen go with the long shot?)

not saying it wasn't cool... just sayin ;)

I presumed you were just spelling the word wrongly. What he grabs is actually a flake so I guess that brings us up to John2 -1
    FX -1

It's really amazing how little the Americans know about the geography of the world, come on one guy didn't even know where france was. And yes I do realise the names were mixed up but it's still no excuse.

Never heard of Sri Lanka?!

I think in this case genocide might be a step forward for humanity and civilisation as a whole.

John 2 gets a bonus point for not being an anallly retentive gobaloon.

    John 2

    Eh, wtf, cop on guys.

As for the exact technical terms relating to what he's climbing... Does it matter. It was a solid freeclimb, an easy route route for an experienced climber perhaps but free climbing at speed is not something that many people are willing to do. Or at least, from the climbers I've known.

Quit trading insults over pedantic bull****. Oh and who ever said climbing is glamarous? It has nothing to do about looking good and everything to do with not falling :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,217 ✭✭✭FX Meister

Oh no, here I go again. Climbing actually has a lot to do with falling. If you don't fall then you most probably aren't pushing yourself enough.
